I will go fast track if I was you.

Saintofsanto · 04/04/2022 05:36

💯 fast track, it's about 8-10 weeks on average at the moment.

MamaOfWobbles · 04/04/2022 06:02

We've just had our renewal done and it took just over 7 weeks and that was with no issues

PAFMO · 04/04/2022 06:15

My daughter's took about 12 weeks.

Amei · 04/04/2022 06:17

I applied for 3 on the 28th Feb and they have all now been delivered but the stress of if they were going to arrive in time for our holiday wasn't worth it haha xx

Nutrigrainygoodness · 04/04/2022 07:13

FAST TRACK IF YOU CAN

I applied for dds renewal on March 8th, it took 8 days for them to acknowledge her old passport, then a further 5 days for them to say yes this is all fine. I got an email yesterday saying it had been printed and would be delivered soon.
We don't fly until June. But I was getting slightly 😬 about it not arriving and as they say it can take 10 weeks.
I think it also depends on whenever you have to send your old passport too. We sent dds to Glasgow, but ones down south seem to be taking an age to process.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 04/04/2022 07:19

Looking at all the threads on here... fast track. It should be fine. But if you are one of the unlucky ones...

Whattodoniw · 04/04/2022 07:22

Oh man

We applied for my sons last week.

We fly 27th May

I didn't see an option to fast track

Does anyone know if I can still do this?

Bert2020 · 04/04/2022 07:22

Fast track! We are just over 6 weeks on renewal wait, it’s now been approved but not yet received. Don’t give yourself the stress of waiting.

Tipsyme12 · 04/04/2022 08:32

Thanks All.

I will soo fast track . Annoying to pay so much more for both passports ! But you are right. The stress would be too much for me !

You have to cancel and then get an appointment to apply at the passport office. It can be tricky.
Frazzled2207 · 04/04/2022 08:35

Do correct me if I’m wrong but I thought fast track wasn’t possible for kids.

Anyway my son’s just came back after 4 weeks and that included the photo being rejected twice which put it on hold for about 5 days.

The average currently is 5 weeks however some people do wait a lot longer. I’d fast track if possible to save the stress.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 04/04/2022 08:37

@Frazzled2207 you can use the 1 week service but not the on the day fast track service for children.

Frazzled2207 · 04/04/2022 08:41

Where did you get this from? Current official average is 5 weeks or 5 for 1st

www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-passport-office/about-our-services#:~:text=Processing%20times%20in%20the%20UK,-Standard%20online%20application&text=Allow%20up%20to%2010%20weeks%20to%20receive%20your%20passport.

and this unofficial but very accurate website says a month

www.passportwaitingtime.co.uk/

Passport office says allow 10 weeks but I think that is to cover themselves as some invariably take ages. But some are coming back in 3-4 weeks hence the average.

Ah ok.

Frazzled2207 · 04/04/2022 08:44

Sorry for that link not working but it is easily searchable on the gov website

6 weeks for 1st passport that should read, average for everyone else is 5.

Sadly fast track is probably the way to to go relieve the stress tho.

Fast track. Even a small delay with the application, picture or post and you could loose a few weeks. Don't risk it. Just cough up the extra £ to make sure you can go away. You'd be kicking yourself if you missed the trip otherwise and wished you have spent the money to fast track.

I've just applied for baby 1st passport and sent in documents last week. We're flying end of July...

FiveForAPound · 04/04/2022 09:13

I just got my passport back last week. Perfectly ordinary adult renewal. I did it online. It was at Liverpool and it took twelve weeks from start to finish.

mnahmnah · 04/04/2022 09:20

Our child renewal took two weeks for approval. That was Thursday just gone. Now waiting to hear it’s been posted, but I understand that can take just as long. I would fast track! Saves being stressed.

Mumski45 · 04/04/2022 09:47

@FiveForAPound I just got DS1's passport renewal back from Liverpool in 17 days from online application to delivery. It really does seem to be a bit of a lottery.

FiveForAPound · 04/04/2022 10:31

It really does seem that way. It was eleven days before I got the email saying it had been received despite,e sending it special delivery.

Bear in mind you may not get notifIcation of it being sent back, I didn’t. It was approved then printed, and three days later it turned up. The tracker stopped at “printed”.
Figgygal · 04/04/2022 10:45

I renewed ds in feb online it took about a month all in

Flockameanie · 04/04/2022 12:38

Fast track fast track FAST TRACK!!!!

We applied 5weeks ago. Still nothing. Took them 3 weeks to acknowledge receipt of documents and nothing more since then. Tried to withdraw and do a fast track but they refused to let us do that once we got to the appointment (despite advising us to do that over the phone). It’s a shambles. We’re supposed to fly in 4 days time, but I 100% anticipate that we won’t be able to go.

When we applied at end Feb/beg March it said the turnaround time was 3 weeks, so we thought we had plenty of time.

fairydust11 · 04/04/2022 12:58

Fast track - ours took 8 weeks from end of January - although there is somewhere on the website that tells you if there are any delays at the moment and what the average time is - but I think it’s 8-10 weeks & 30th of May comes before that.
