What are Grecotel hotels like?

We're thinking about booking a new Grecotel that has no reviews at all as they're only just opening it. The former hotel had awful reviews due to management but the location site itself is apparently lovely so it could be a good gamble.

Just wondering what the Grecotel chain/ brand in general are like? Are they fairly consistent across their hotels and are their standards high? Looking for anything to provide reassurance basically!

Well I've just booked one as it was a good deal and what we were looking for. It's June so I can let you know then!!

@HelpMeHiveMind We have just booked this one . I’m a little worried but the hotel have assured me there has been a big renovation. I’m hoping thats it’s of a similar standard to their other hotels

Going mid July. I am quite hopeful based on their other hotels and the facts it’s been closed for so long

We went to one in Crete and it was fine. Good service, excellent food, good facilities, rooms basic but clean and fine

@HermioneWeasley Ok that doesn’t sound too bad or too good but hopefully it will at least be up to what we paid for - which wasn’t all that much compared to some other hotels

@Springsinshine1 maybe being totally new renovation the rooms will be a bit nicer than basic. Would you mind letting know how it is please when you go?

@Springsunshine1 are you going with Tui by any chance? We've just been messaged by them that parts of the hotel will not be open (some of the restaraunts and pools) and to expect noise / building work. I'm not sure what to do as it doesn't give completion timelines.

We’re going 16 June and not received anything from Tui so now v worried as I started this thread! Also no reviews on Tripadvisor so wondering if even open. Please let me know when you’re going because they should have let me know by now!

@shine18 It’s definitely open, have a look at their Instagram. It is only open a couple of days though.

Hi sorry only just seen your messages. We are going end of June and received an email saying that there could be building noise heard and that the main buffet restaraunt may not be open but food would be served in one of the others. I was going to try to switch to a different hotel but have seen that in the last few days they've been actively posting on their Insta so am waiting for the first reviews to start coming through.

We stayed at a Grecotel on Corfu and it was very nice! It was slated as five star but in reality probably about 4.5 stars. I know it’s not the hotel you are going to but we had a very good experience at the one we we to so hope yours will be good. Enjoy!

I’m here and it’s nowhere near a 5 star. Parts are only about 3 star. It depends on what your expectations are but I wouldn’t be rushing back

Yes very much a work in progress. We’re in an annex room and been upgraded to a 2 bed. Beds are v good ( I have a bad back) sheets v thick high grade Egyptian cotton. Room quite basic tho no hooks mirrors picture, vanity unit in shower room etc. one bathroom still circa 90s. Staff are lovely as it’s all new. Actually had official opening last week. Food healthy but enough for kids as well. This is a mammoth of a hotel and only partially open. When done should be amazing. Great situation on best beach I’ve seen in corfu, lots of lawns spread out and mountains behind. But lots of things still not ready so hope Grecotel get it right. Water park for kids and animals is amazing

@shine18 The staff are really on it , particularly the lifeguards. my kids got awful burns on the slides which hasn’t happened before so not sure why that is. The rooms are a real disappointment but the space is good

@Honeysuckle9 what is so bad about the rooms please and are there other bits which aren't great or is the rest good? We are having a nightmare with airline so thinking maybe best to just walk away and book something else

@PrettyLittleCryer Rooms are very very basic and this is the best rooms . If you haven’t got an upgrade your room could be very poor.

food is good, beach bar and restaurant good so if you are expecting an ok ish 4 star you will be happy, if you expect a 5 star you will be very disappointed
