Lowest cost Day 2 test

Hi can anyone help with the lowest cost day 2 test following return to UK from France (Amber country).

I've found Randox at £43 with discount code but wasn't sure if there was anything cheaper. A lot on the gov website look like they're going to be £20 but are actually around £80.

Don't care about service or reputation as just need the code to sort the passenger location form.

What a farce this all is by the way!!

NWP but when you book it only gives option to say yes to vaccination

PeppermintGum · 12/08/2021 21:54

I found that too - some say they're only for vaccinated people. God knows why.

Anyway, 3 out of 4 of my Randox tests have arrived (we haven't even set off yet!). The whereabouts of the 4th is not known...

Wizzbangfizz · 12/08/2021 21:58

Shall I just order them and just leave the which vaccination one it is empty?! Might try that. Ffs honestly.

PeppermintGum · 12/08/2021 22:22

As I understand it, all you need is the code for your passenger locator form anyway. There are always the free LFts if you have an actual concern re Covid.

PeppermintGum · 12/08/2021 22:24

Tempted to set up a day 2 testing service myself Wink

Will you have a discount code for us? Will you change your price within few hours ?
PeppermintGum · 13/08/2021 07:43

@EasterIssland of course - exclusive code for mumsnetters only. Can be used by anyone who doesn't mind not actually receiving anything in the post. £200 if you do Wink

Following, I'm off to France in October...

PeppermintGum · 13/08/2021 08:33

It'll be interesting to see whether they are still insisting on these tests by then!

Catatemyhomework · 13/08/2021 11:45

I'm not happy about these rip off UK prices. I have written to my MP. Had to pay £80 for dd1s antigen test and had to travel 15 miles for it. Had to pay £50 for dd2s test and had to travel 30 miles as couldn't get them together and few available slots. Now we are in France we have already booked our antigen tests for coming home and they are only 25 euros per person which is at the lical pharmacie. Haven't got round to booking day 2 tests yet. The whole thing is scandalous, and some people are making a lot of money 🤔

JayAlfredPrufrock · 13/08/2021 12:04

Thanks @Catatemyhomework

Was it easy to book at the pharmacy?

Catatemyhomework · 13/08/2021 12:12

It was ok. We asked at the pharmacy at Geant and they said no but I think it was because Dh asked to buy a test. We phoned the one on their sante website which is nearby and they booked us in. Turns out we will get it done at the pharmacie at Geant. I think the confusion was that you have to book the appointment at their test centres and then they tell you where to go. In our case we have Geant which is fine. They will give us a certificate and all for 25 euros per test which is a bargain! At least I think we have understood correctly! 😂

Xiaoxiong · 13/08/2021 12:19

I'm having a nightmare in the US as we fly to the UK on a Sunday and the only places that will process tests on weekends seem to be charging $250 per person including for LFTs. There is PCR testing available everywhere but it's a 2 business day turnaround minimum (and up to 5 business days!) so no good for the 72 hour window before flying. Arrgh!

EasterIssland · 13/08/2021 13:58

Simon Calder has shared a question regarding day 2 tests and there are several replies

EasterIssland · 13/08/2021 17:26

Also has anyone used c19testing ? I have seen their antigens Is 29. You just take a swab and send the pic. Similar as with qured but no need to get any appointments to do it in front of someone. We need one for flying out and one for flying back so wonder whether anyone had used them.

Thanks !

I have ordered antigen tests for my dds from Chronomics. They were £28 each. It says on the website that they despatch within 48 hours, although after ordering on 11 Aug they said they would be despatching on 18 Aug (having ascertained we were flying on 21 August). I did query this, but the response was they were just for me to pack. No, they are for the DDs to take 24h before we depart and I would really like to know I have them. So I changed my 'departure date' and now they are being despatched tomorrow...

Delatron · 13/08/2021 18:33

I’ve used C:19 for their antigen testing for DS 12. Really good service. Arrived promptly. The test was easy to do. You take a photo of the result, submit it and we had a for to fly certificate within an hour.

I’m trying to find the cheapest PCR day 2 return tests. The Expert Medical form is so clunky it won’t let me fill in/see what is in certain boxes and it’s stressing me out.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 13/08/2021 18:38

If you do a test and take a photo of the result, anyone could have taken the test.

What a farce

Delatron · 13/08/2021 18:39

Yep @JayAlfredPrufrock this is true.

The whole thing is an absolute money making farce!

Butterfly44 · 13/08/2021 18:40

Placemarking!

Delatron · 13/08/2021 18:42

I’ve gone with Randox for the day 2 return test with the code for £43 each. What swung it was I could add 4 tests into my basket whereas others you have to check out separately each time. I’m over this whole testing thing and ust want to go on holiday!

Delatron · 13/08/2021 18:46

Is it the RANDX383672 (made up number) from the confirmation email that I put in the passenger locator form to return home? I just want the code!

I have just seen they are cheap so thought I’d book with them otherwise … but seems a few are having problems. Cuz of tests not arriving on time

Yeah that's the one.
