Lowest cost Day 2 test

Hi can anyone help with the lowest cost day 2 test following return to UK from France (Amber country).

I've found Randox at £43 with discount code but wasn't sure if there was anything cheaper. A lot on the gov website look like they're going to be £20 but are actually around £80.

Don't care about service or reputation as just need the code to sort the passenger location form.

What a farce this all is by the way!!

I’ve just used ‘Expert’ Medicals because they were £28. The cheapest I could find for Day 2 on the govt approved list. I had to use chrome to get their site to work (it wouldn’t on safari). I don’t give a flying fuck if they arrive or not (although apparently they have been dispatched and are with DPD). It’s nothing more than a box ticking exercise to put a code in the PLF to get through border control. the Tories are creaming off 20% VAT from the tests. Their mates/ donors have set up some of these companies. It’s not about public health: I’m coming from a country where rates are significantly lower than the U.K., social distancing is still a thing, as is mandatory mask wearing. We’ve holidayed in our own campervan and apart from supermarkets haven’t mixed with others. If I went to an outside pool or cafe here, I need to prove my vaccine or covid negative status. I have to provide a negative test just to get past border control (an extra expense). Yet if I come in close contact of a confirmed positive case back in the U.K. (including) a member of my household, I don’t even need to isolate?! We’re being totally mugged off by the government/ rip off Britain. Grrrr! Go for the cheapest tests possible (obviously if you need to do test to release, or to provide a negative result to travel then go for the best reviewed!).

Rollergirl11 · 28/08/2021 14:40

@EasterIssland was that prior to 16th August? I thought from then if you are double vaxxed you no longer have to self-isolate from a close contact?

That was cheap! Well, still too much - I wish I would have found them. I agree - it is a tick box :(
Rollergirl11 · 28/08/2021 15:00

Phew. You had me worried for a second there! Shock

xksismybestletter · 28/08/2021 16:36

We got expert medical too. Not arrived yet.... Only due last monday...
Apparently dispatched and on way since Wednesday.. dpd don't have them yet!

playplayplay · 28/08/2021 22:33

We've used Expert Medicals too. One out of the three arrived yesterday as planned. Still waiting for the other two to be with courier. To be honest I was surprised any of them turned up, but I just wanted to use the cheapest.

Butterfly44 · 28/08/2021 23:24

Ordered 3 tests from expert medical a before we flew out (2 kids and I) @£28 each which as others have said is cheapest. All arrived ok. Filled out passenger locator form for return back to UK. NOTE - only your own day 2 ref number is required on the form. Any under 18s are listed on an adults form but no other details required. So I have 2 extra reference numbers in effect.

Butterfly44 · 28/08/2021 23:27

Something to add - when I ordered from expert medical they confirm the order by email with the reference number to put into the PLF. So no need to wait around for delivery. Mine were delivered while on holiday.

spacecadet · 28/08/2021 23:37

Anyone used Atrucheck? All looked OK but have since had this unexpected email asking if i want to 'activate' the tests 🙄

playplayplay · 29/08/2021 22:57

Oh yes, and in case anyone was wondering, they do fit through your letterbox. We ordered ours while we were on holiday and I did wonder if they'd be left on the doorstep the whole time but they were on our mat when we got in. Well, one was, the other two arrived today.

Paulina23 · 30/08/2021 15:19

Can’t manage to make Expert Medica work on any browser, anyone managed to get through?

purpleboy · 30/08/2021 15:39

Booked expert Medicals 18/8 due to be delivered 22/8(that was our day 2 testing day) 27/8 1 test has arrived other 2 still missing. Now 6 days past our day 2 date. Haven't been contacted by anyone so no idea what to do now. Confused

ticolac · 31/08/2021 22:00

We used expert Medicals too. 3 tests ordered. 2 arrived on day 2, the other on day 4. Finally got all results back on day 9 (2 tests) and day 10. We were also called on day 6 as someone on the flight tested positive. Didn’t go for a pcr as we were awaiting the day 2 result. No further follow from anyone, and no need to upload the results anywhere. Pointless.

Did you manage to get the website to work? I keep trying in different browsers and when I submit it wipes all the cells.

I ordered my Day 2 test from 'Expert Medicals' on the 20th August and today, 12 days later, there's still no sign of it, despite all kinds of emails from DPD and Expert Medicals themselves claiming it's on its way.

I can't get through to Expert Medicals by phone, they haven't answered my emails to date and their reviews on Trustpilot are terrible. The whole thing very much feels like a scam and, even if the test IS delivered today (as claimed will happen by a DPD email I received this morning), the results will be useless as I've been home now for 9 days.

I've written to Expert Medicals by email today saying that I'll be invoking my consumer rights and cancelling the order - as I'm able to do up to 14 days even after receiving it (and having returned it with unbroken seals) and, if I don't get a full refund within 30 days of the order date, I'll issue a UK Courts & Tribunal Service 'Money Claim Online' action to recover both the cost of the test as well as the cost of the online action.

This lot definitely sound like scammers and the UK Government is massively remiss in not ensuring suppliers of these tests are bona fide. I think, any legal firm with enough resource willing to take on mass claims would do very well out of this.

Really useful review.

Not worth risking it so I've gone for NWP instead which a few PPs has rated well and reasonably priced.

My update for anyone who finds this useful-

Went to Majorca in July. I live in Scotland but flew back into Leeds, bought Randox Day 2 test as was cheapest. Used the code for the Passenger Locator form. Both checked either side. Didn't bother doing day 2 test as did the free NHS PCR (long story) so Randox one never made it out the box. Only call was to see that I came back from Spain as the Balearics wasn't registering due to a 'glitch' and when it was you had to isolate from an Amber country.

Flew back again from Majorca today into Scotland. Used the code from previously bought Randox one as it's now apparent it's a money making exercise/scam and also boils my piss that the government have the one company that has the monopoly so thought I'd take my chances.

It went through no problem, received QR code, was checked at Palma, no checks Scotland side as I used the electronic self scan thing.

Yet to be seen if I get any calls but I wouldn't stress if it hasn't arrived etc. You are basically paying for a code and a test that probably won't be processed.

@Tabitha005 are you fully vaccinated? if so you don't have to stay at home I believe even if you haven't done the test. you're free to go out and take measurements not to infect others
Hereforthedramaz · 03/09/2021 13:35

Hi, just as a notice I ordered a day 2 test from NWP for £40 on Wednesday, I was sent the ref needed for the PLF instantly and test arrived the next day so well ahead of my holiday (I'll be coming home on the 19th).

So far very good service

Coogee · 03/09/2021 13:56

@Hereforthedramaz

Did they just put the NWP test through your letterbox or did you have to sign for it?
