Lowest cost Day 2 test

Hi can anyone help with the lowest cost day 2 test following return to UK from France (Amber country).

I've found Randox at £43 with discount code but wasn't sure if there was anything cheaper. A lot on the gov website look like they're going to be £20 but are actually around £80.

Don't care about service or reputation as just need the code to sort the passenger location form.

What a farce this all is by the way!!

Outrageous

EasterIssland · 11/08/2021 23:06

I’ve used qured. Used there fly to uk service which was a lft test done over a video call and posted the picture to them for the document that would allow me flying back. £39

Also , used them for day 2 , £79 I think. Did it on Saturday and Tuesday night (Monday > Tuesday ) we had our negatives back

I’ll use them again for a new trip we’ve. British airways has a discount for qured , I can’t find it but it’s in their website. I didn’t fly with them but yet I used them.

EasterIssland · 11/08/2021 23:09

Btw nwp is £65 again

£79 😱

EasterIssland · 11/08/2021 23:14

@JayAlfredPrufrock

£79 😱
Just checked £75 for qured which is 63.75 with British airways discount. They use the post office system and I’ve one next to my house. Randox might be cheaper but I’d have to drive and pay car park to drop it off so I’d rather use qured which so far have been good for me
JayAlfredPrufrock · 11/08/2021 23:45

I’m hoping that with all the outrage currently being expressed in the media that cost might come down.

I’ve got 6 weeks before we go so I’m holding out.

EasterIssland · 12/08/2021 08:45

it's in the news today , I'm going on holiday again in 2 weeks so I think bit late for any change.
I'm thinking whether to fly again in October to spain and visit my family so hopefully we'll see some changes by then

@EasterIssland

Btw nwp is £65 again
and 40 now

@EileenGC I think it was yoou whoo mentioned them, is nwp a postal system where you post it using the post office? that's the system I need rather than one like randox's as I'd need to be driving

NWP is hilarious, prices are changing every 12 hours. Are they being hacked or just having a laugh with this? Grin

Yes @EasterIssland they’re a postal service and I used them last week. They arrived on day 1, I took them on day 2 and posted them with Royal Mail, you just need to locate a priority postbox. Results were back the following evening, it was all very efficient.

However, this was before they started taking the piss with this constant price changing, I don’t know what to think of it…

I’m flying into England again in 3 weeks so let’s see what happens then.

Which rules apply if you live in Scotland, but fly via England?

Coogee · 12/08/2021 09:19

Presumably, the ones for the home address you put on the passenger locator form.

The different rules are daft. However, if we had waited for them to agree on a common set of UK rules, nobody would be going anywhere.

xksismybestletter · 12/08/2021 11:25

We are in France, coming home next weekend. I'm really hoping things change by the middle of next week....

JayAlfredPrufrock · 12/08/2021 11:31

How much are you paying for your French pre entry test? And have you booked it?

ArabellaPilkington · 12/08/2021 13:50

Bloody love MN! In Greece atm and was about to book Collinson PCR for Day 2 but have saved over £100 booking instead with NWP.

Thank you!!!

We haven't needed these as fully vaccinated.

I don't know about best way to do a pre departure test but hopefully someone else can help with this.

Can I book the NWP ones now? We go a week
Tomorrow - presumably they will arrive I don't need to do it while I am away? Feel urgent as don't want price to go back up again Confused

When you order it you will get your code, which you will need to it on your passenger locator form. The PLF is completed within 48 hours before returning to UK.

You actually do the test within 2 days of arriving back into the Uk.

So you could order it now so you have the booking ref code and one less thing to worry about whilst you're actually away.

Hope that makes sense.

I meant the test to leave France. 3 days before departure. So that will be the day after I get there 🤔

JayAlfredPrufrock · 12/08/2021 15:35

I’d wait and see if the price is capped at £40 for the Day 2 test.

EasterIssland · 12/08/2021 15:37

I bought my day 2 test the day I did my -3 days antigen test. I thought there was no rush to buy day 2 if I tetes positive anyway , and as at that point I only needed it for the form, it was enough for me.

Wizzbangfizz · 12/08/2021 17:38

Thanks @Window1

Wizzbangfizz · 12/08/2021 17:55

Just bought day tests for DP and I but can't buy them for DC (7 and 10) as they are not vaccinated Sad so am assuming going to have to pay more for them or use Randox.

EileenGC · 12/08/2021 17:59

Who did you book with? There shouldn’t be a different price for unvaccinated…
