Lowest cost Day 2 test

Hi can anyone help with the lowest cost day 2 test following return to UK from France (Amber country).

I've found Randox at £43 with discount code but wasn't sure if there was anything cheaper. A lot on the gov website look like they're going to be £20 but are actually around £80.

Don't care about service or reputation as just need the code to sort the passenger location form.

What a farce this all is by the way!!
@Hereforthedramaz

Did they just put the NWP test through your letterbox or did you have to sign for it?
Just through my letterbox when I got home.

the sample tube etc was in a Jiffy bag so fitting through the letter box was no problem.

Our Day 2 tests from Expert Medicals finally turned up on Day 7 and 8 respectively: needless to say, we haven't bothered doing them or sending them back! Interesting to see that they are no longer on the list of suggested providers on the gov.uk website, but still waiting to see how much longer the government insist on keeping up this requirement for testing, particularly for people returning from countries with far lower incidence of Covid than we currently have in the UK.

I’ve just ordered mine from Eurofins for £20. It’s a drive through in Warrington (there’s another one in Livingston). It’s half an hour’s drive away but it’s saving us £50 and we’ll go to IKEA or something afterwards (fully vaxxed, no quarantine needed). I decided not to risk Expert Medicals in case they get completely blacklisted and the code doesn’t work!

Coogee · 05/09/2021 19:15

So, you could order from Eurofins, get the the code to come home and just not bother turning up for the test?

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 05/09/2021 19:22

There’s a message on the site to say they will tell Test & Trace if you don’t show - who knows?

willstarttomorrow · 06/09/2021 20:58

I fly back tomorrow from Greece and have decided I am just paying for a code so have gone for the cheapest possible. I have also paid for Eurofins £20 drive through but not sure if I will bother tbh. We are flying back from Kos after island hopping and just walked into a clinic tonight, handed over €20 and had our results in 60 mins. I am not too far from Manchester but considering day 2 tests are not being sent out, not collected or results not sent out I am not that worried.

So annoyed with nwp and their system :( the dates need to be inserted in USA format. I inserted the British way. Called them 5 mins after and they’ve said to call them tomorrow. Why a British website would request tue data in a different way to the British system ?
I’ve got the code anyway which is what I need

Agreed, a really annoying default. Took me a minute to realise
EasterIssland · 08/09/2021 23:52

I only realised because my hibsansa bday is the 24 so it failed. Mine is 04 so it didn’t.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 13/09/2021 14:26

Two weeks until I go to France and I’m hoping the need for testing will be revoked before I go. Oh

EasterIssland · 13/09/2021 14:38

my nwp were delivered by the time w arrived so perfect service. I've done it this morning so have to post it later in the day. planning on a quick trip to visit some friends so would use them if I need to

Tulipomania · 16/09/2021 08:46

Are there any walk in clinics where you can get the day 2 test done?

EasterIssland · 17/09/2021 16:55

happy days!

TRAVEL UPDATESpeaker with three sound waves: we’re making testing easier for travel LuggageSyringe From Mon 4 Oct, if you’re fully vax you won’t need a pre-departure test before arrival into England from a non-red country and from later in Oct, will be able to replace the day 2 PCR test with a cheaper lateral flow.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 17/09/2021 17:12

4th October my arse.

We get back on 1st October.

🙄

EasterIssland · 17/09/2021 18:20

C19 then is your friend. Lft for £29 easy to use
whataboutbob · 17/09/2021 20:05

I get back on 1st October too, from France. My understanding is I still need a PCR though.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 17/09/2021 20:30

Yes. The same rules apply.

Going for a test in France for €25 and Eurofins drive through PCR on return for £20

Oriunda · 17/09/2021 22:59

I’ve used Expert Medicals and the tests arrived with no issues. They take a bit longer than Randox to arrive, so just build in extra time. The email with all important ref number came straightaway. A moot point now tbh given that we only need lft soon, but will be interesting to see what providers charge.

PersephoneJames · 18/09/2021 18:06

If ExpertMedicals got taken off the government list, is it still valid? It seems by far the cheapest and we're only going for a weekend so not even going to take the bloody things

hobag82 · 18/09/2021 21:04

I used expert Medicals, the test came quickly but we only returned at 2am this morning so haven't used them yet so cannot comment on that part of the service but can confirm the reference numbers (that were sent via email immediately upon pressing confirm) worked on our PLF that we filled in on Friday

In honesty if we send them off and the results don't come back I don't really mind as I just wanted the reference number to put on the plf

72WayTooCool · 19/09/2021 07:29

I've just ordered Expert Medicals too. The code for the PLF came in the confirmation email and they appear to be on the way via DPD. If they don't turn up then they don't turn up, but we've got the info needed to travel.

PersephoneJames · 19/09/2021 07:44

In the end went for NWM as the expert medical form just kept going blank when I pressed “purchase.” And I got one for ds even though kids don’t go on the PLF. Angry what a monumental waste of money.

Hereforthedramaz · 22/09/2021 17:53

Hi

I ordered the c19 test to take away on holiday (£28), arrived within days and really easy to take the test and submit. Received the fit to fly certificate within 2-3 hours (no one ever asked to see it but that's irrelevant)

Used NWP for the day 2 test, arrived within days of ordering (£40). Arrived back on Sunday, took it on Monday evening, posted on Tuesday morning and received the results on Wednesday pm.

Id recommend both
