Suggestions for Honeymoon

Let's pretend for a second that there is no pandemic and that travel will be totally back to normal by next June.

I'm looking for ideas for our honeymoon. We'll only have a week, 8 nights at a push, so don't want crazy long haul but I suppose 8-9 hours flying time would be ok.

Ruling out Spain as we've been plenty before, and Italy as we're there the following month for another wedding.

Looking for somewhere romantic, beautiful and relaxing but with a bit to do in terms of culture, wildlife to see etc. Budget is flexible but ideally would come in under £1500 each for a week.

June isn’t a bad month for visiting the Caribbean. The prices are normally a little lower than typical. Although the rain increases, it is usually short sharp showers followed by plenty of sunshine. You might be able to see turtles hatching on the beaches in Grenada, although Grenada isn’t within 9hrs flight. Antigua might be your best bet as it’s within 9 hours and hurricane season won’t have started then.

Corsica? Mountains, beaches and amazing food.

A small island in Greece, like Samos.
Sicily.
Sardinia.

We have been eyeing up Osaka for something very different for ours next year.

Côte d'Azur. Perfect honeymoon location.

I came to say Dubrovnik too.
I'd love to go.

We were going to go to Cape Verde for ours before the pandemic got in the way! Only 6 hours flight and good weather all year round.

Isles of Scilly

Cape Verde is one of the only places I'd never go back to. Very barren, the 5* hotel was lovely but next to a brothel with very very young girls working there.

TUI said they know about it but the hotel attracts the brothels so it's catch 22

Mexico has amazing wildlife.

Not sure what prices will be like next year but longhaul Cape Town and Costa Rica are both excellent for wildlife.

Within UK Isles of Scilly has dolphins, seals and puffins etc and you can go there by helicopter or small plane.

Within Europe in Finland we saw brown bears in the wild at Arola Bears, as well as lots of reindeer including white ones.

Depends if you want a lazy poolside holiday or are happy to travel about a bit. Greek islands are always a winner for me - you could go to a couple of different ones (Naxos is my favourite, accessible by ferry from Santorini)

Thanks all. For a weeks holiday I quite like a 'staying put relaxing with maybe a couple of excursions'. We live offshore so all holidays involve 2 flights each way already, adding more travel into a short holiday isn't ideal.

Costa Rica is my favourite place on earth but I went there on my last honeymoon

Cape Town I've been to half a dozen times as I used to have friends there.

Mexico is glorious!

Croatia is beautiful. We went on our honeymoon and stayed at the sun gardens which is outside Dubrovnik. You can get a boat into the city which we also did. Gorgeous hotel. Also try More hotel which is closer to the city. Lots of opportunities for day trips to Islands and places like Montenegro and the waterfalls inland etc.
