Where was your best European holiday destination?
LynetteScavo · 22/07/2021 20:09
A few years ago there was a thread about the best ever holiday destination and quite a few posters mentioned one particular place in Europe. Of course I can't remember where it was. So where was your best ever European summer holiday?
MorningNinja · 22/07/2021 20:13
Kayakoy, Dalaman region Turkey.
Vamos, Chania region Crete.

I think it might have been Halkadiki - has anyone had a fabulous holiday there?

City - Krakow
Kid friendly - Efteling theme park in Holland or Centre Parcs Holland
Sun and Sand type - Greek islands probably

Another vote for Slovenia. We went to Lake Bled and the capital Ljubliana definitely want to go back Beautiful country and lovely people.

Another one for Slovenia. Beautiful, small so easy to see a lot, and even so, quite a difference between the north and sound/coast.

A tie between Interlaken (actually a village on lake Brienz) in Switzerland, and Merano in the South Tyrol. Amazing natural beauty, loads to see, and we stayed in lovely hotels.

@piperatthegates
Agree with this, we stayed at the coast too.
claracluck1978 · 23/07/2021 20:45
Agreeing with all the previous love for Slovenia. Have done Slovenia and Croatia and the Croatian islands but would like to go back with the kids.
Lovely welcoming hotels/beautiful scenery/yummy food and good cheap red wine! Loved it!
BasiliskStare · 23/07/2021 20:49
Tuscany - hot in mid summer but lovely and very good food. DS was kindly taken to Croatia and though it was marvellous.

Yes! We had a fabulous holiday in Halkidiki a couple of years ago and are thinking of going back next year. Never usually go to resort type places but this place is amazing. It’s called Sani Resort.
NuffSaidSam · 23/07/2021 20:54
Austria is my favourite European destination.
Also had a great holiday in Montenegro.
Have been to Halkidiki, had a great holiday but I don't think it is WOW as a destination. Crete is definitely nicer if you're going to Greece.
notacooldad · 23/07/2021 20:57
Chamonix, France.
For our fa.ily there was so much to do. We went so many times when the kids were between 9 and16.
minipie · 23/07/2021 20:59
It was probably Sani. Seems to attract worshippers. Mostly well heeled SW London/Home Counties. Wall to wall childcare, costs a small fortune.
I haven’t been but admit to being Sani-curious
ArabellaPilkington · 24/07/2021 06:33
Another vote for Garda
Plus Corfu - my dream is to hire a villa there all summer. The NE corner ❤️
ineedaholidayandwine · 24/07/2021 09:06
Loved Sicily. Beautiful
With kids loved Tenerife
Nuggetnugget · 24/07/2021 09:08
Few places for me. They must be good as mentioned already.
Efteling Theme Park
Also Krakow as a city break and Rome
Sicilly - day trip on Mount Etna and jut stunning location
Chemenger · 24/07/2021 09:15
Sweden. Or when the children were small, Rabbit Hill in the Netherlands. Short break, no expense spared, Iceland. I did like Corsica a lot but it’s just too hot for me in summer. I’d like to go back in spring.
BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/07/2021 09:17
Kefalonia ... beautiful scenery and beaches. Lovely friendly people, gorgeous cheap food and local wine.
Standrewsschool · 24/07/2021 09:18
Annecy - beautiful lake and mountains in France.
Duinrell, Holland - great for family stays, theme park and pool next to holiday park, also near Amsterdam
ThreeKneeRepeater · 24/07/2021 09:21
Umbria, Italy.
Amazing renaissance works of art in tiny hilltop villages.
