Due to holiday on Greek Island in 2 weeks. Really anxiety inducing, anyone in the area boat or can offer reassurance?

Thanks so much for the helpful information . I didn't find any of this on the government website . It's all so confusing !

I'm most concerned about someone else on the flight testing positive on arrival, what an absolute nightmare that would be!!

Oh god I hadn't even thought of that, Greek isolation rules would presumably apply and may be different to ours though?

@Kisskiss

I just went, if you’re double jabbed you don’t need a pre flight test, but otherwise you need a rapid antigen fit to fly abd to fill in a plf more than 1 day before you leave
They tested everybody coming off the flight upon arrival ( only one passenger per household) , but this can mean it takes 2 hrs to get out of the airport , so best to pick seats near the front or back doors, so you are processed quickly…

Thank you - this is very useful to know!! Hope you had a good trip.

Going out: everyone age 11 & over needs to provide proof of negative test within 48 hours (LFT) or 72 hours (PCR) OR double vaccinated OR Proof of recovery from covid.
AND complete Greek PLF

Coming back: all 11 and over need a predeparture test in resort (LFT) AND to have booked day 2 tests for everyone 5 and over AND to complete a UK PLF.
then do PCR for all ages 5 and over on or before day 2.

That's super helpful. Many thanks!

Be wary about going if you have just had Covid and take proof you have. Our whole plane were tested on arrival despite being doubled vaxxed and pcr for those not

@kindlekeeper was that LFT or PCR for whole plane?

Mainland airport and a quiet one. Lateral flow taken by a nurse combined with passport checks etc

This is my worry, although it would be bloody ironic to test positive on a LFT next month when they failed to pick up my infection until 5 days after the positive PCR! I had 2 days of positive LFT's and yesterdays was negative again. I will have the covid pass thing too, hopefully that is enough + some common sense.

Thank you!

We're all now testing negative on LFTs.

Not sure what lft’a they use but I stand result and a different process to ours

The LFT I had in Majorca looked exactly the same as the free NHS ones.....

If you've had negative LFTs every day for a week before you go, having had Covid in the past few months, how likely is it really you'll suddenly get a positive? I'm thinking not.

Proof is only useful if you had Covid more than 30 days previously, Greece won't accept if within that.

My holiday cancelled by Tui on Monday - wish we'd not built ourselves up to expecting to go. Stressed at going, upset at not.

I was hoping, given less flights, that Heraklion airport is better organised. The absolute worst usually for organisation.

Ryton - when were you due to go?

We had a lovely tour around the islands for our honeymoon. I would just say, if you're planning to sail around them and stop where the mood takes you, avoid Spetses. It's not very accessible by car (which we thought was perfect) but it IS therefore overrun with motorbikes/mopeds buzzing about all day and night!

Anyone going with TUI - do you know how late you can order the Chronomics test to return kits? It says they send them out to arrive 3 days before you depart - can we order within a week do you think?

Report
ArabellaPilkington · 21/07/2021 08:45

Actually sorry I've just found the answer to that - it's 7 days ahead. Annoyingly TUI/Chronomics haven't updated the Green/Amber thing - as we are double vaxxed and kids are U18 we don't need the Day 8 test so assume I can just put Green in for Greece as that matches the return tests we need?!

@RytonLane that’s us right now. We were stressed as hell about going, but now Jet 2 have cancelled we are really sad we’re not going and just kinda sat here thinking now what? 6 weeks off with teens and 4 weeks off work for me and hubby to fill.
I know going abroad is a luxury, but I rest struggle without a ‘proper holiday.

We were meant to go to Corfu next week. We cancelled after reading this thread to be honest... we have two small children and the risk is just too high Sad. I'm so sad though. Been waiting for this holiday for 2 years! Also the flights won't be refunded and they were like £800 which is so disappointing too.

These countries need our tourist $ to keep things going, so they dont want it to be this difficult.

My biggest worry would be getting randomly tested at the airport on arrival - someone I know has this happen last year (so they may not still be doing it) and they said it was positive. She got picked up from her hotel the next day and taken to a covid quarantine hotel that was a total dump for two weeks. She never ended up with any symptoms.

Thank you @Twobigsapphires for starting this thread, there's a lot of useful information here.

Does anyone know what's happening with flights to Skiathos? I'm looking to book a holiday there but now wondering if they'll be next to cancel flights?

I'm meant to be going to Crete in October with Jet2. If things are as they are at the moment I would rather cancel. I have emailed them twice to ask if I would get my deposit back but they are being very evasive. Those who have cancelled, did you get your deposit back?

Report
name6785 · 21/07/2021 10:05

@CatherineAragon if you cancel you won't be entitled to your deposit back. You'd need to be cancelled on to be due a cash refund and it's too early to be cancelled on.
