Due to holiday on Greek Island in 2 weeks. Really anxiety inducing, anyone in the area boat or can offer reassurance?

Anyone going to Santorini in the next two weeks? We're booked but thinking we should cancel the hotel as the free cancellation runs out on Saturday and we're concerned about Greece turning red...we can get vouchers for the flights luckily.

ElBurro · 05/08/2021 09:26

Thanks @ArabellaPilkington ☺️

FizzyPink · 05/08/2021 09:43

Does anyone in Zante know if you can pay by card in taxis?

I hadn’t even thought about cash as we’re all inclusive although will have some meals out and about. I usually just use my Starling card abroad but will withdraw some before we go if needed.

We went there for the day yesterday - was lovely. Lots of people there - they said many more than in 2019. Not too busy though, managed to get seats/tables easily in restaurants and cafes and no queues for anything. Ferry was about three quarters full.
ArabellaPilkington · 05/08/2021 10:06

Not 2019!!! I meant 2020

greywell · 05/08/2021 10:15

I agree that cash or card are accepted in most places- one small taverna requested cash as a preference, though they had a machine, so worth taking a bit of cash.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 05/08/2021 11:10

Well we have not long landed.

Birmingham airport was a breeze (despite being busy)
Flight was full.

I managed to have all the correct paperwork despite my stresses. I had everything electronic and downloaded an app to keep them all together.

We are currently waiting for our room sipping on an ice cold mythos. Bliss.

GrealishHairband · 05/08/2021 12:08

Have a fab time @Carrotcakeforbreakfast

DD testing negative now on her LFT’s with still 11 days to go before we fly.

For anyone who might be interested or in a similar situation. Her first positive LFT was 30.7.21 and looked like the one on the top, the next couple of days looked the same, then gradually they’ve got fainter until today not there at all.

Rest of the house still negative so far. Isolating until Sunday.

@GrealishHairband brilliant news!

Bayleaf25 · 05/08/2021 15:13

fingers crossed for you @GrealishHairband - our DS is still testing negative on LFT - we're out of isolation on Tuesday and flying on Friday! Nothing like cutting it fine!

FizzyPink · 05/08/2021 15:22

So pleased for you @GrealishHairband

Just seen this on new restrictions in case anyone going to Zante is keen to be out partying www.ekathimerini.com/news/1165781/mini-lockdowns-imposed-on-zakynthos-hania-to-contain-virus/?fbclid=IwAR2jb1R9m09IstE6qplRZpwzNP_af0vBuY76DInyC3l0SA_4nRwx_a9JEHc

magsbagsfags · 05/08/2021 15:24

@Carrotcakeforbreakfast can I please ask what app you have for collating all your docs?

aussiegonewrong · 05/08/2021 15:59

We are in Paxosneed cash for taxis and some cafes tavernas Ask you to pay cash
It's busy so couldn't hire a car wish I had done prior to coming but as hotel not providing shuttle to towns due to covid but apart from that it's all good wasn't tested at Corfu airport

Scottishskifun · 05/08/2021 17:03

We have just booked Crete for end of September!

Has anyone taken under 4s? I think from what I've read that our DS doesn't need testing at all due to his age either way out, return or day 2. We as his parents (double jabbed) only need tests for return flight and day 2 iirc?

Not sure what to do about proof as we have the letters in Scotland not a app yet! Am hoping that they will have launched it by the time we fly!
Anyone know if Jet2 have a upload section for proof of things?

WeAreTheHeroes · 05/08/2021 18:20

We've just had our easyjet holiday to Crete at the beginning of October cancelled as they're saying one of the flights has been cancelled and there's no suitable alternative. Disappointing.

Check out jet2 we were able to book today!
FizzyPink · 05/08/2021 18:27

@WeAreTheHeroes TUI also have some great deals at the moment. I was browsing yesterday and a slightly nicer hotel than we’re in was £500 cheaper than what we paid when we booked back in January.
If I didn’t have my heart set on a swim up room I’d have changed and got a refund for the difference.

WeAreTheHeroes · 05/08/2021 18:33

I'll have a look, thank you. easyJet are giving us the option to change our booking or cancel for a voucher or a refund.

Always go for a refund with easyjet they are a pain in the arse for other stuff!

Anyone else get an emergency broadcast re: fires through on their phone? Never knew I could get emergency alerts, nearly had a heart attack when the klaxon blared out...

webjunkie · 05/08/2021 20:02

Has anyone flown back into Wales? I’m really confused about the testing requirements. We’ve purchased tests for the UK from the Tui approved testers but I don’t think they’re correct! We live in England but fly into Cardiff and they seem to have very different day 2 tests!

silkience · 05/08/2021 20:08

Thank you! Seems like there is a lot of confusion around this. Chromonics sold me the testing package based on it being fit for UK. Aargh 😩

Yes! Us too.

I thought very efficient actually. Wasn't planning on starting a fire...

poshme · 05/08/2021 20:58

And agree about refund from easyJet. Vouchers can be tricky in terms of using against cost of actual flights...
