So worried, have I done the test too early?

I am going to majorca at 10pm tomorrow. I did a covid test yesterday at 11.40 and they said it will take between 24 and 36 hours for me to receive the certificate.
I received the certificate at 9am this morning, but the report time was 7pm yesterday.
If I go by the time I received the email that is 36 hours before I fly. If I go by the date thr report was done it is 50 hours.
On the government website it says "documentation issued within 48 hours of traveling to spain". I am so worried that I will not be allowed to fly as the results were analysed so fast 😭

@Plantsandwine

I'm so sorry, in no way is that going to meet the criteria of 48 hours. The test needs to be taken within the 48 hours before arrival (I think the documentation issued wording is a translation garble). Your test would need to have been taken after 10pm yesterday. Theres still time to get a LAMP test today. Good luck.

LIZS · 10/07/2021 15:33

Do they time it from take off or landing?

Nootkah · 10/07/2021 15:39

Landing. It has ro be taken within 48 hours of arrival. Here is screenshot from Spanish Health website. Im a little nervoua for ours, booked for 10.40 on a Sunday, for arrival at 9.40 on the Tuesday!

Earlier flight?

EileenGC · 10/07/2021 15:45

The test needs to be performed 48 hours before landing. I always allow for a couple less hours just in case there’s a delay, but in this case yours is clearly over 48 hours. It might be overlooked, or they might turn you away. You also need to fill in the FCS forms and declare that you’re complying with all the regulations, so I personally wouldn’t risk it.

IsabellesMissingSock · 10/07/2021 16:14

Yeah, it needs to be within 48 hours prior to landing.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 10/07/2021 16:23

Sorry, it's too early. You need to book another one.

Plantsandwine · 10/07/2021 16:31

Anyone know where I can get a test last minute that will provide quick results?

TinaYouFatLard · 10/07/2021 16:35

Can you get one at the airport?

Where are you? Does the airport you’re flying out of offer rapid antigen tests? I’d book that if an option, and just go the airport one hour earlier than you’d planned. Results should take 20 minutes.

I know plenty of express testing centres in London but they charge £200+ for a 12h turnaround. I imagine you can find them in most cities as well, if money is not an issue.

EileenGC · 10/07/2021 16:38

Doesn’t need to be a PCR test, antigen will do. That’s basically a LFT done by someone else at a testing centre, there should be plenty to choose from. As it’s LFT, the results should be super quick.

I thought lateral flow tests were not allowed for entry to majorca. I am in Leicester, help, please!!!!!

IsabellesMissingSock · 10/07/2021 16:47

Needs to be a PCT for Mallorca. I'm there at the moment.

Nootkah · 10/07/2021 16:47

@Plantsandwine LAMP test at an airport. I think I remember from another post youre travelling from Birmingham? I dont think they offer these sorts of tests there unfortunately. You'll have to do a google search to find somewhere that does 24 hour turn around, or LAMP. Good luck x

IsabellesMissingSock · 10/07/2021 16:47

PCR even

IsabellesMissingSock · 10/07/2021 16:49

Yeah LAMP is fine too actually. Not sure what one of those actually is but I think they are quicker than PCR.

Nootkah · 10/07/2021 16:49

@EileenGC Lateral flow not accepted by Spanish destinations, only lab tests.

Plantsandwine · 10/07/2021 16:52

I have found a pcr test within 12 hours for £300 I am going to have to do that, otherwise we lose a holiday worth £2000 😩😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

This is why I can't understand folk going away right now.

I'm not concerned about COVID but the absolute hassle that is involved in trying to get away just makes it not worth it. You'll have the exact same pain in the neck on the way back!

StormcloakNord · 10/07/2021 16:56

Plus tbh if you can afford a £2k holiday right now £300 is just one of the costs you'll have to swallow.

EileenGC · 10/07/2021 17:01

I apologise, it seems they’ve changed it yet again and now only molecular tests are accepted coming from the UK. That includes LAMP and TMA in addition to PCR.

I can confirm Spain does accept rapid tests, but only coming from the EU. I have travelled multiple times over the last 6 months, including last week when I had no issue getting through with a lateral flow.

You won’t find anything cheaper than £2-300 for a 12h turnaround PCR test OP Sad

Plantsandwine · 10/07/2021 17:01

It was a holiday we booked last year, stupidly thinking everything would be fine by now. You are right though, there is no point in thinking about it, hopefully everything will go OK now 😔

To be fair the hassle is minimal if requirements are read properly to start with, although that takes time and dedication because they change all the time.

OP has done an easy mistake and this process is not made easier by countries changing their rules every week. Not even a month ago Spain accepted 72h tests and didn’t require anything from British tourists. It’s a task, keeping on top of changing rules all the time.

Good luck OP, I hope you manage to get there tomorrow!

EileenGC · 10/07/2021 17:05

One positive is that you don’t have to worry much about the results now, knowing the tests were negative last night Wink
