So worried, have I done the test too early?

Plantsandwine · 10/07/2021 13:38

I am going to majorca at 10pm tomorrow. I did a covid test yesterday at 11.40 and they said it will take between 24 and 36 hours for me to receive the certificate.
I received the certificate at 9am this morning, but the report time was 7pm yesterday.
If I go by the time I received the email that is 36 hours before I fly. If I go by the date thr report was done it is 50 hours.
On the government website it says "documentation issued within 48 hours of traveling to spain". I am so worried that I will not be allowed to fly as the results were analysed so fast 😭

Sorry, I meant £85

EmpathyBypass · 10/07/2021 17:11

@StormcloakNord

Plus tbh if you can afford a £2k holiday right now £300 is just one of the costs you'll have to swallow.

Well that's nice

LIZS · 10/07/2021 17:13

@bertieb7

Check boots, they are usually £65 if they have them available- I was recommended them by friends who but havnt actually used them myself yet.
Relative had nightmare with Boots post travel.
Nootkah · 10/07/2021 17:47

@bertieb7 Is that a 24 hour turn tound at boits for that price? She's travelling tomorrow.

Amboseli · 11/07/2021 12:15

Rapid tests are not accepted by Spain for UK residents. There has been a lot of confusion about this. They do accept rapid tests from EU nations.

A LAMP test is accepted and has a 90 min turnaround, around £80.

Nootkah · 11/07/2021 13:17

@Plantsandwine Did you get it all sorted out? Also, who was your first test with? Having it back within 22 hours is super quick and Im sure others would like to know which provider it was (I know I would!) .

Hope all goes well and you jet off OK this evening x

Watapalava · 11/07/2021 21:01

For info Randox do express pcr with results 1-3 hours at certain airports

Dds having theirs at Manchester this week 25 hr before arrival

Watapalava · 11/07/2021 21:02

£95 each

Plantsandwine · 12/07/2021 06:43

@nootka yes, arrived safely early hours this morning!! Everything went fine, but I am so glad everyone told me to get another test, they checked the certificate with the times and dates of the test in England and in Spain.
It was with rapidtestingcentre.co.uk
The results were so fast, I did the test at 6.30pm on Saturday and received the certificate at 11am on Sunday! It was expensive, but expected at that short notice. Thanks again for all your replies, you saved me being turned away at the airport!!

So glad you got away. How stressful, this definitely puts me off going abroad. Hope you have a lovely holiday and can relax

TopTabby · 12/07/2021 06:56

Have a lovely holiday!

*This is why I can't understand folk going away right now.

I'm not concerned about COVID but the absolute hassle that is involved in trying to get away just makes it not worth it. You'll have the exact same pain in the neck on the way back!*

This. Why would anyone put themselves through all the hassle just for a holiday?
Essential travel I can understand but it's hardly going to be very relaxing Confused

I'm pretty sure she'll be quite relaxed when she's down by the pool later with a cocktail Wink

We've just got back from a week in Greece. It was very relaxing Smile
I did my homework beforehand including speaking on SM to people at our destination, so I had 2 copies of all our pieces of paper (one for me, one for OH), our return tests booked and the details of when and where to go for our pre-flight return test. We sailed through Gatwick both going out and coming home - it took no longer than normal.
We had a 20 minute delay on arrival in Greece as we all had to be tested at the airport. We had a text with the result before we got to our hotel.
We had to spend an hour on our last day getting a test - that involved 5 minutes at the testing centre and an hour having coffee overlooking the harbour while we waited for the result- then 20 minutes that evening completing our UK PLFs. It hardly ruined our entire holiday or stopped it being relaxing!
Just put in the time beforehand to make sure you have everything you need Smile

I am on holiday right now and it was worth every moment of hassle!

I didn't realise how stressed and anxious I've been for the last 18 months until I got on the plane and felt it all fall away.

Nootkah · 13/07/2021 21:37

@Plantsandwine So glad you got away! Who was your first test with that came back so quickly?

Franklin12 · 13/07/2021 22:34

I am abroad right now. No way am I paying the rip off UK prices for crap service and it piddling down with rain.

Plantsandwine · 14/07/2021 09:26

@StormcloakNord because it is so worth it when you actually get abroad!! Definitely needed this, and look at that sunset on our walk to get cocktails last night 😁

@Nootkah the regenerative clinic, they have them all over the country. I googled for a discount code and got 20% off too which was really good!! Just a shame I didn't properly research it before booking the time slot.

To be fair nobody in Palma looked at my test certificate closely - they definitely didn't check the 48 hours

They did for me... they asked for me to zoom in to look at the time and date. Made me feel better for having to pay so much for another test!

Brilliant. Glad it went so well for you.
cptartapp · 14/07/2021 12:07

DS and five friends currently on a ten day trip in Majorca. Worth every second of 'hassle' which wasn't really if you read the rules and get organised.
It's all quite clear.
We're probably going to go to Greece next month despite the extra cost of testing for four. It's that or spend the same money on train fares and go to London which I can't get excited about.

rookiemere · 14/07/2021 13:27

I genuinely hope everyone's holidays go well but the real stress @cptartapp occurs if anyone gets a positive test abroad.
