Shameless placemark as we are considering these...

No1HolidayPlanner · 21/06/2021 19:11

I plan to use these on return from Crete

Violetlavenders · 21/06/2021 19:58

Watching with interest.

Especially whether results come back quickly?

Tatapie · 21/06/2021 22:05

They seem the cheapest for day 2 & 8 with Ryanair discount code.
I'm not sure whether for day 5 they'd be too slow, says test result given day after receiving in lab so day 7 by then! I think Boots are day after testing, so day 6 and maybe airport drive thru ones same day?!

I used for day 2 (country was green) very efficient

Tatapie · 22/06/2021 22:32

@Thischarmlessgirl great to hear. Did you post in a randox box or use normal post?

DS used their Day 5 overnight service - deposited in Randox box on Day 5 in the afternoon and result back 24 hours later. I've read other reviews where the result has come through much earlier. £48 (a lot cheaper than many of the others) and excellent service. Another family member has a trip coming up and is planning to use their service for all of the tests.

woodlands01 · 23/06/2021 07:06

Yes - used for pre travel, day 2 and day 5.
Discount code from airline used so reasonable.
We used the dropbox. In Bristol (uni town) 10 mins away but at home a half hour drive. Results back before noon next day.
I also liked the fact that if you buy single tests you are not penalised on price. Multi pack and single test work out the same.

The only issue I had is they gave me wrong information.
When I questioned the day 5 and day 8 tests they told me if my DD did the day 5 test for release and it was negative then she did not need to do the day 8 test.
Afterwards through test and trace this became apparent it was wrong.
Test and Trace - don't get me on a rant! 5 phone calls and they still didn't talk directly to my DD. Couldn't get the idea we didn't have a land line and the alternative number was my phone number.

Does anyone know exactly when the green test before you return to the UK actually has to be done? I read somewhere "within 72 hours of your arrival in UK" but others say in the "3 days before you depart". So if I was departing somewhere on the Friday for example, can I take the test on the Friday just before going to the airport, or do I do it on Thursday??

mrsrobin · 25/06/2021 09:58

Actually I have just found my own answer (from the government website):

Pre-departure testing
All those aged 11 years and over must take a COVID-19 test, in the three days before you start your journey to Northern Ireland, even if you're normally a resident in Northern Ireland.

For example, if you travel on Friday, you must take a test on the Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Bichette · 25/06/2021 10:02

We used the day 2 and 8 package. It was very straightforward- do test at home, leave in local drop box before 5pm and results by email next day.

Bichette · 25/06/2021 10:04

You need to be aware that day 1 of your quarantine starts the day AFTER your arrival in the UK.
I thought day 1 was the day of arrival, especially as we arrived back at 8am. So we actually did our first test a day early but it wasn't a problem.

Violetlavenders · 28/06/2021 15:58

Has anyone used Randox for pre departure (before leaving UK) PCR testing? Did the results come back quickly?

woodlands01 · 28/06/2021 19:56

All of our tests were back before noon next day

Showmetheworld · 29/06/2021 18:12

Hi everyone,

To those who have used the Randox Pre-departure test, did you have to make a note of the time you took the test when submitting your sample?

I am due to land in Mallorca at 9am on Saturday 10th July and need a negative PCR test within 48 hours of arrival. Would I be correct in thinking that I can take the test at home at 9am on Thursday 8th July, post it in my local drop box before the final collection at 5pm and will receive the results no later than midnight on Friday 9th July? I’m just curious how they would know what time you took the test to ensure it falls within the 48 hour window?

Thanks!

Rachie20 · 01/07/2021 22:10

Yes, they ask you to add the time

Trenisenne · 01/07/2021 22:42

I used randox day 2 and fit to fly. I didn't realise that their drop boxes are rather randomly located, so sent back by royal mail delivery by 1pm.

Angel600 · 26/07/2021 16:34

Hi, I’m wanting to know the exact same question. Did you manage to find out?

Damnthat1sTaken · 27/07/2021 11:47

Randox have been great for me, used drop boxes before 4.30pm and results back by 9am each time the next day

CrazyCatLady75340 · 28/08/2021 14:52

Could anyone tell me how quickly they arrived after you ordered them please?

LinzerTorte · 28/08/2021 15:22

CrazyCatLady I ordered my day 2 test on Wednesday and it was delivered this morning (although it said on their website to allow 4-6 working days for delivery).

CrazyCatLady75340 · 28/08/2021 15:26

Thank you, that makes me feel better. I'm having a little freak out as I didn't account for the bank holiday and am due to fly on Wednesday 8th.

LinzerTorte · 28/08/2021 15:39

I'm sure you'll be fine as Randox seem to be quite efficient, especially if you use one of their drop boxes. I'm in a travel testing group on Facebook and quite a few people have posted that their tests arrived within half the time that Randox say to allow. I had an email yesterday evening notifying me that my test had been dispatched and that it would be with me within 1-2 working days, and it was delivered at 11am today.

CrazyCatLady75340 · 28/08/2021 15:49

Thank you, that's really fast. The only other thing I'm questioning is that I ordered two tests and put my details in for delivery, but there wasn't anywhere for me to fill
In my husbands details. I'm assuming he fills in his information on the test before he sends it back? Thanks again, I'm slightly calmer! Grin

UnaOfStormhold · 28/08/2021 15:56

Drop boxes are very efficient, though it's worth checking on their website to see how close your nearest one is. We got our results about 5pm on the day after we dropped them off. Don't be like me though and register the wrong date for when you took your sample - I had to do a second because I put the wrong date on the first! Thankfully it was the day 2 test rather than the pre-departure or we might not have been able to go!
