Does anyone know the cost of the covid test per person to Portugal please?

Will depend who you have it with. They’re between £50 and £120 each, I believe.

thebeachismyhappyplace2 · 30/05/2021 08:55

Is that per journey?

A friend is having one this week in Central London (Kings Cross) for £89

LIZS · 30/05/2021 08:59

Per test

NavigatingAdolescence · 30/05/2021 09:01

@thebeachismyhappyplace2

It’s per test.

For Portugal you need to take one a few days before you go, one a few days before you come back and another 2 days later in the
U.K.. So 3 tests per person.

thebeachismyhappyplace2 · 30/05/2021 09:07

This is ridiculous - how can people afford to travel when the tests cost more than the holiday itself!

NavigatingAdolescence · 30/05/2021 09:09

I’m not sure affordable travel is high on the priority list right now…………

LIZS · 30/05/2021 09:10

Some tour operators offer a package but you do need to factor the cost it in and also insurance should you test positive and can't travel back.

underneaththeash · 30/05/2021 09:11

If you go with TUI they’ve reduced the price of their tests, or you go to
Somewhere that doesn’t require you to test - like Spain and wait for it to be on the green list.
Or you go on holiday in the U.K. ( like we are now).

LivingLaVidaCovid · 30/05/2021 09:18

We found the cheapest available it was £80 each for outbound PCR, 100 euros for return fit to fly, £80 for day 2.
So about an 250 per person.

We just took the hit and factored it into overall holiday cost. (Less nice room and we ate at cheaper restaurants)

Hoppinggreen · 30/05/2021 09:26

I think that you don’t need any tests once you arrive home from Portugal as it’s Green list

NavigatingAdolescence · 30/05/2021 09:27

Not according to the govt site.

Why Are you moaning at the cost? You have a choice to not go

BluebellsGreenbells · 30/05/2021 09:33

The country can’t afford for you NOT to test!

Hoppinggreen · 30/05/2021 09:37

Thank you Navigating
I had better check thoroughly since we are going next month!!
We are going to Spain as well which complicates things further

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/05/2021 09:40

I’d be worrying about the cost of accommodation if you test positive when you’re away and can’t fly home.

Has anyone found insurance that covers that possibility?

TO12T39FRQ · 30/05/2021 09:41

Not only accommodation but workplaces won’t pay you for time off isolating

Crazycatlady83 · 30/05/2021 09:42

If you are with TUI it's £20

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/05/2021 09:46

Neither DH or I can work from home which rules out any international travel for us atm.
m00rfarm · 30/05/2021 09:49

Currently you only need the antigen yo yo back to uk from Portugal. You can get them fir about 35£ from qurad and take it with you. You book a video consultation when you take the test and they send the certificate by email. You can also get them at faro airport when you go home but they say to allow four hours.

m00rfarm · 30/05/2021 09:49

To go. Not yo yo.

TO12T39FRQ · 30/05/2021 09:53

All this booking tests and worrying.... what a faff

lljkk · 30/05/2021 11:08

I'm not sure why it's so great an opportunity to go, tbh.

You have to follow a lot of social distancing rules all the time on journey & en route.

I gather these experiences might feel relatively normal:

Sitting on your own little bit of beach
Sitting in a restaurant (ignore masked staff)
On grounds of a private villa
In remote places or maybe cycling, watersports, when you can unmask

Masks, hygiene, 2m, contact tracing etc. rules all the rest of the time. On boats, in the streets, in the markets, to visit the toilets...

It doesn't sound like a relaxing holiday.

Grapesoda7 · 30/05/2021 13:11

Tui are only offering cheaper tests if you've booked a paggage holiday with them. If it's Tui flights only, there's no cheaper price.

RAINSh0wers · 30/05/2021 14:29

Ryan air are also offering a test package if you book with them, £120 for the pre flight test and the day 2 one on return.
