Seen the British news lately? Portugal will not be lifting the ban on foreign travel before May 30th.

Interesting. That will mean British fans can't attend the Champions League final.

UEFA are going to look pretty silly.

Great, we can look forward to the Portuguese variant spreading across the county in a few months.

The green list doesn’t mean you can go to Portugal. It means people in Portugal can come to the U.K. without having to quarantine. The green list is just about quarantine measures.

Still, being on the green list you have to pay for a covid test pre going and one coming back and on day 2 in the uk. The UK companies providing the tests are extortionate so you're looking between 200-300 per person in addition

Love it when I'll-informed people are rude to other posters yet have it completely wrong themselves...

Just been watching BBC news, they have just been talking about Portugal as I came across this thread.

This news story seems to be exactly what was said on the BBC news just now.

Summary:
no decision from Portugal yet, their 'state of calamity' has been extended to May 30th. Personally I'd be worried if I had a booking for Portugal before then.

They are considering allowing a limited number of fans to go for the football, subject to tight controls, but not yet announced.

Yes we are due to go 10th June. Had it booked last year for the same dates and changed it to same dates this year then when we found out we couldn't go.
Not really looking forward to it tbh but it's a big family holiday lots of people going and they're all up for it 🤷🏻‍♀️

* Sky News understands that a "state of calamity" is a term used by the government which gives it the power to impose local lockdowns or mandatory mask wearing but does not affect decisions of allowing people in and out of the country.*

Nothing has changed!
Just means that their impose to impose restrictions are still in force!

their power to impose

Report
Egghead81 · 14/05/2021 10:10

It’s a legality

Our governments powers were extended by 6 months beginning of April.

Nothing changed to the roadmap. Just means the powers to impose restrictions are still in force!

We've just cancelled our holiday full stop. Not even going to try for a UK holiday. Everywhere is just going to be rammed with people.

I love the concept of a state of calamity. i was desperately hoping the next step down would be called a general state of unease.

I will laugh like a drain if they only allow EU citizens in.

Same here. I'd rather stay at home and sit in the garden or have local trips out than pay a fortune to stay somewhere in the UK and have to book restaurants, attractions etc in advance rather than just play it by ear day to day according to the weather.

We have booked a European city break for late August, but that was mainly because we had a flight voucher from last year that was about to expire. If it doesn't go ahead we can cancel our hotel up until the day before and will get a new voucher with a new expiry date to go for third time lucky.

* The statement read: “The options are wide for the British Tourists to visit Portugal, from any point. People from the United Kingdom have visited Portugal and celebrated our culture, traditions, landmarks, history, and enjoyed our warm hospitality for decades.

“We look forward to welcome all travellers coming from the UK.”*

You maybe “saw” but you sure as heck didn’t actually go so far as to read the news!

I can’t wait to see how this ends. I actually interpret what @Fuckingcrustybread to be accurate based on the UK news. But Football is so precious (read that as lucrative), I’m sure they’re going to change their minds within the next week.

I personally am not booking anything yet.
