I’m due to travel to Rhodes on the 8th of August. Has anyone on here travelled over there since the travel corridors were introduced?

Watching with interest. There are a few recent videos on YouTube showing what resorts and airports are like going to Spain, but not Greece.

ladyflower23 · 22/07/2020 07:44

Also watching with interest. I'm going to Kos on August 16th.

thesunwillout · 23/07/2020 09:59

Bumping thread for op

Mammawilson · 23/07/2020 13:19

Watching also, im due to go to Rhodes on the 6th, although Hotel has cancelled so waiting for On the beach to offer an alternative

Bluewavescrashing · 23/07/2020 13:21

Ignorant question but what are the travel corridors/ air bridges and what do they do?

whataboutbob · 23/07/2020 14:28

I think it means a reciprocal agreement with a country that citizens of each country can enter and leave without having to quarantine when they get there/ get back home.

Also watching with interest. We're due to fly to Greece on 5th August. We had message from easyJet yesterday saying they were expecting our flights to go and I messaged the hotel to check they're open and they are so hopeful we will be able to go

summersolstice43 · 23/07/2020 14:52

We go to Crete on 18th and I've been following certain business pages from the resorts on social media. It seems lots of businesses are open as usual and the tourists are arriving without incident. Make sure you complete your PIL form, you will get your QR code 24 hours before you fly and at the airport they will scan and they are doing random testing. You can then head off to your resort and enjoy your holiday unless you test positive and then you will be contacted and told to isolate for 14 days. Greece also has a law where you must wear facemasks in all supermarkets or it is an on the spot fine of 150 euros.

thesunwillout · 23/07/2020 16:32

We were in Crete last August.
Where abouts are you going.

suziesue45 · 23/07/2020 17:00

We're going to Stalis, it'll be my 9th time there, love it so much.

thesunwillout · 23/07/2020 21:16

Will look it up. We went to Rethymno
Loved it.

I know someone who travelled to Rhodes recently, just over a couple of weeks ago. But they drove all the way from the west of England. They are back now, both had a form to say that they had tested negative for COVID-19.

I am in Greece at the moment! On one of the smaller islands. Easyjet flight to Athens was nearly full. Airport was very quiet in UK and quite surreal. Athens airport also very quiet. We were selected for random testing but as we were able to show negative test results from less than 72 hours before travel, they let us through.

The ferry was much quieter than usual at this time of year, most people wearing masks although a lot were not wearing them properly. First week was very quiet compared to last year, Greeks very pleased to see us. Mainly Greeks here, some French, Italian, German but very few British people.

Wearing masks in supermarkets and shops but nowhere else for tourists and locals, but waiters wearing them in tavernas and beach bars.

Our hotel is very quiet, pool is open and buffet breakfast as usual but gloves for people to wear. Tavernas are quiet too, but it is all slowly getting busier. All in all, it feels more "normal" than home and everyone has been very friendly and welcoming.

Hope all those going have a wonderful time.

ladyflower23 · 27/07/2020 08:05

@OneOfTheThree thank you that is a very reassuring post! Did they seem to be stopping a lot of people for the random testing?

BramblyHedge · 27/07/2020 08:15

@OneOfTheThree did you have private test before you went? How does it work if you are leaving Athens for an island within 24hours and they want to test you? Can you still travel onwards?

pinkrocker · 27/07/2020 08:23

My friend is in Crete right now and says although quiet it's wonderful. I booked to go.to Zante on 5th Aug, but not sure if I should complete the PIL form yet or closer to the time?

cptartapp · 27/07/2020 08:35

FCO advises if that anyone on your flight tests positive your may be subject to mandatory quarantine in government provided accomodation.
Be wary.

wizzbangfizz · 27/07/2020 11:17

We are due to go end of august fingers crossed 🤞🏻

OneOfTheThree · 27/07/2020 11:19

@ladyflower23 they didn't seem to be stopping that many but we were among the last off the flight so not sure how many got stopped before us.

@BramblyHedge I went online and requested NHS tests. I didn't lie about having symptoms or reason to have the test and they seemed happy to send them anyway. We did them on the Tuesday, got results on the Wednesday/Thursday and travelled on the Friday. My understanding is that you are still able to travel on to your final location as long as you social distance while waiting for test results.

@pinkrocker I filled it in about a week before travelling and got the QR code at about 10.30pm the night before we went. You have to show it multiple times - they were reassuringly thorough in my opinion.

loubieloo4 · 27/07/2020 11:24

Currently in Crete, having a wonderful time. UK airport quiet, plane was full and masks were kept on during the flight. Dh and I were chosen to be tested at Crete airport, all very quick, clean and organised.

Our hotel is great, temperature tested before going into restaurants, loads of hand sanitiser around, masks needed whilst using the buffet and ordering at the bar.

Feel safer here than at home!

pinkrocker · 27/07/2020 16:08

@loubieloo4 what is the pool like, are there restrictions?

opalescentblue · 27/07/2020 23:46

Hello, where can I get this PIL form? And how soon before travel should I get it. Do children under 8 need it?

ladyflower23 · 28/07/2020 07:55

@loubieloo4 were you restricted to your hotel room while you waited for the test results? Good to hear you're having a great time Smile

missyB1 · 28/07/2020 08:04

We were due to go to Skopelos on July 10th but it was cancelled Sad we will rebook the same hotel for next year as it looks gorgeous. We were so looking forward to this holiday Sad

loubieloo4 · 28/07/2020 08:17

No restrictions at the hotel and pool is business as usual, our hotel is only running at 30% at the minute.
We also have a swim up room so have been able to keep fairly distanced anyway, dh has stage 4 bowel cancer with less than 12 months life expectancy so we are being a bit more careful.

Genuinely feel safer here than at home! And the weather is amazing ☀️
