I’m due to travel to Rhodes on the 8th of August. Has anyone on here travelled over there since the travel corridors were introduced?

dd going in a week, hoping she remains negative before she goes, while she is there, and always tbh

thesunwillout · 11/08/2020 13:26

Anyone in Greece now like to comment on where abouts you are and how you're finding it.
Thinking of going in couple weeks after a level results.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 12/08/2020 14:00

Husband and son are currently in Halkidiki ( while DD and I self isolate at home ) and it's really quiet. Loads of empty sunbeds around the hotel pool and a very quiet beach. He said social distancing and Covid measures are much better adhered to than here at home. He feels really safe and relaxed. Getting through the airport was easy too. They booked a last minute package with Tui as they have the Covid guarantee. They are at a small family run hotel on a half board basis rather than one of the big all inclusive resorts.

thesunwillout · 12/08/2020 22:55

Thanks for the reply 😊
Hope they have a lovely time.

I wish that was a destination from my nearest airport but alas ours only goes to three Greek islands and I've not seen anything that suits.

Have also been looking on tui.

Where did they fly from?

AngelsWithSilverWings · 12/08/2020 23:05

@thesunwillout they flew from Gatwick. It was only booked because it was the cheapest holiday on offer and they just wanted to escape handing to quarantine with me and DD! Cost £300 pp for half board and it's really nice apparently.

We have booked Corfu for next May. That's our happy place. Just hoping that Greece stays on the good list!

thesunwillout · 13/08/2020 07:41

Ah I used to have Gatwick as my nearest airport.
Choice!
Now it's Exeter!

Where in Corfu are you going.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 13/08/2020 10:13

@thesunwillout we love Kalami Bay - starting going there thanks to a recommendation on here. We're staying at The (Durrells) White House for the next trip but we've hired villas before. We don't book a package for these trips - just EasyJet flights and booking direct with you hotel or villa owner.

BatonRouge · 14/08/2020 23:09

Just landed in Corfu and breezed through customs with no Corona test. Pretty relieved. We landed at 10pm so I'm not entirely sure if that influenced the fact we weren't tested? Corfu Town is bustling, lots of Greeks here enjoying themselves out in restaurants. Feels pretty relaxed thus far

thesunwillout · 15/08/2020 05:53

I saw a good deal for a hotel in Corfu town.
Think I need a beach holiday but I do love Greek towns.

timeforawine · 15/08/2020 06:10

This is nice to read as we're off to Crete tomorrow

wizzbangfizz · 15/08/2020 11:21

Really worried it will be next on the quarantine list Sad

Imapotato · 15/08/2020 17:32

We’re currently in Corfu and having a great time.

It’s pretty relaxed here, staff are wearing masks in restaurants and everyone is wearing them in shops, but that’s it. It’s not too crowded, very easy to socially distanced on the beach and when out and about.

The flight was fine. I was super stressed before going due to the plf and the possibility of testing at the airport, leading to quarantine if positive. As it was my fears were unfounded and we breezed through.

Hope everyone going has a great time.

Peaseblossom22 · 15/08/2020 17:35

Gosh really pining for Agios Stephanos Or Kerasua beach at the moment. Have toyed with trying to get a week at the beginning of Sept which would still leave 14 days quarantine before ds starts University .

Hohofortherobbers · 15/08/2020 19:42

We're in Stoupa now, got here fine, PLF checked at Gatwick and then again at kalamata on arrival, weren't selected for random testing. Flight was fairly empty for easyjet, we were at the front and had 2 empty rows for 4 of us... Luxury! Lots of Greek tourists in Stoupa, not many British and virtually no other nationality. Restaurants are busy, masks in shops but otherwise business as usual. Feel very lucky to be here, glorious weather.

timeforawine · 16/08/2020 18:13

In Crete now, fight fine, Manchester airport fine with everyone wearing masks and plenty of hand gel. Arrived in Crete and got through security quickly, staff everywhere wearing masks or visors, at the hotel tables etc disinfected after each use, masks and gloves needed in the buffet, needed until sat down in other restaurants.
In room your given some gloves, a cotton mask and mini hand gels Smile

I'm in the same boat @PamDemic

thesunwillout · 16/08/2020 20:50

@Peaseblossom22
I'm in the same position.

Shall we shan't we try and get a week away.
Consensus with DD and I this evening is we'd not relax enough.

I just know I'll go to bed and start holiday searches again!

hopefulhalf · 16/08/2020 21:01

We went 1st-8th flew into to Kos then sailed around the little islands, it was lovely so relaxing. As others said servers all wore masks and masks in shops. The flight was definately the worst bit.

wizzbangfizz · 16/08/2020 21:45

I've no qualms about going it is just the quarantine risk and start of school for the kids Sad

Mummyonline · 17/08/2020 14:09

We arrived in Crete last week from LRH. Everything went very smoothly. Let off the plane in groups so there weren't huge queries at the passport control. We had to show PLF code. We have to wear masks in shops, taxis and public transport. There is a curfew and everyone has to leave bars and restaurants by 12. Police were patrolling the harbour in Chania and everyone is very good sticking to it. I feel much safer here than in the UK.

ABasilCocktail · 20/08/2020 06:21

Watching with interest. We're due to go at the end of the month so obsessively watching the FCO website.

BusterTheBulldog · 20/08/2020 15:43

We were due to go on 3rd sept, have cancelled. 😔 seemed too risky with thought of quarantine possibility. We could both manage it with work, but the thought of 2 weeks at home isn’t great! Off to the lakes instead, 🙏 for good weather!

In Lefkada at the moment, fly home Saturday so I think safe from quarantine now but I think it might happen soon, but I think cases will need to raise to around 300/400 a day based on the rates I saw on BBC that require quarantine.

It's been fine, airport was quiet. Pretty busy on beaches etc. Not as much social distancing as at home but I don't think there are any cases on this island at the moment. I wouldn't come if you can't risk self isolation, but it's been a lovely, pretty normal holiday.
