Holidays
Another voucher only option

Hi, booked our Virgin flights to Havana with Travel Trolley.
As with everyone else, these have been cancelled- were due to fly out today ☹️
TT Agent said that Virgin are legally meant to provide a refund, but are issuing vouchers instead
Couldn't/wouldn't give me any details new terms and conditions or expiry dates or anything.
I have refused this as this holiday was for a specific purpose and the group is unlikely to be able to travel together in the future.
I spoke to Virgin (text only) and they have confirmed that cash refunds were sent to all travel agencies, but that it's down to them to decide to issue refund or not?
I do not want a voucher for thousands of pounds that is going to be worthless if either virgin or Travel Trolley go out of business.
Should I start a chargeback or section 75 with my credit card now or wait. My concern is if they're offering me a voucher, even though I'm refusing to accept it will I be entitled to claim from my card.
Any advice on what I should do?

They are legally obliged to refund your money.
Do not accept a voucher.
If you start chargeback or section 75, I suspect you will be told to pursue the refund.

Thanks handbags, that's what I thought.
However I keep getting emails from the agents saying my voucher will arrive in the next few weeks, despite me repeatedly telling them I am not willing to accept this.
Yesterday when I spoke to the agents and mentioned an earlier conversation I'd had with another member of the team, I was told no such person existed!
Getting nowhere fast.

You need to put in writing (an email will do) that you do not accept the voucher. I would also call and wait until you can speak to someone higher up. Re-iterate that you do not accept the voucher and you will make a charge back from your credit card company (who will then claw the money back from Travel Trolley - plus extra).
