ARGHHHH. FARRRK. PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY ENORMOUS PROBLEM TO DO WITH GLASGOW AIRPORT.

I am in the outer hebrides. we arrived on friday. all except my bag arrived. my bag contains not only ALL my stuff (clothes, make up, shoes EVERYTHING) BUT more importantly ALL ds's stuff (waterproofs, boots, and most most awful, his teddies without which he has trouble sleeping).

BA are being absolutely useless. have spent whole weekend phoning, finally got a human being who was a human being yesterday who tried her very best to find out what has happened to my luggage. apparently it left london city airport for glasgow as it should have (city airport very small and so they know if they have luggage and they don't have mine). but the bag has not been forwarded from glasgow to benbecula (all our other bags were).

so we surmise that my bag is sitting in glasgow airport. there have been 3 flights to benbecula since and none of them have had my bag on it.

the luggage handlers at glasgow airport for BA are Alliance. They do not answer their phone. Even (apparently) to BA. Certainly not to me (it sounds as if they pick up and then put down the receiver immediately, but maybe i'm paranoid).

they will not answer BA's telex's asking them to forward the bag or even say whether or not it is there.

we have until saturday here. It would transform my holiday to get the bag. I phone everyone several times every day. to no avail.

if any of you know a baggage handler at glasgow, or frankly, anyone that is physically at glasgow airport, and could walk round and ask them for my bag, please cat me and i'll give you the ref (or actually i'll give you the ref on here, because i am desperate).

if anyone knows anyone that works for Alliance dispatches who might have a phone number where a human being picks up the phone, would you let me know a number?

if anyone knows a BA bigwig (or anyone in BA who might be able to help me get my bag) please help.

this is such a downer on our holiday and i'm so bloody frustrated that my bag is probably sitting in glasgow airport with no one putting it on a flight to benbecula.

there are two flights tomorrow. if by the power of mumsnet my bag is on one i will be so overjoyed.

any vibes most appreciated too.

xxx

MidnightExpress, you're a star!

Have been reading this thread and remembering how often my mother's luggage did not arrive with her when she travelled BA. I also remembered my awful journey from Brum to Glasgow (1hrs 10 mins? No! Brum To Edinburgh, Edinburgh to Glasgow by bus, no explanation, took 3hrs, still had an onward journey to make, tired and missing my dd). Other travellers had come from South America, their luggage fine until they got a BA flight and then it's lost...

Called to complain, they said I'd get vouchers, this was Feb, I'm still waiting.... Don't plan on travelling BA again if I can help it!

Surfermum · 03/09/2007 13:17

Hurray for mumsnet! And what a star ME is. Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday sophable.

midnight express words fail me.....thank you so much, you are an absolute gem of a woman. I KNOW that if you hadn't gone down, I wouldn't have my bag, ds wouldn't be tucked up with his teds (you should have heard the 'conversation': "teds where have you been?/we've been stuck in glasgow/I'm so happy you're here now we can all sleep in the same place again!" etc etc.

I have some clothes. ds has some clothes. I feel so different.

A couple of things have come out of this experience. Firstly, I will go out of my way to do good things to help people out from now on....I'm not totally curmudgeonly, but I have been guilty of cynicism in the past....NO MORE thanks to you midnight. (and please please do forward me your address, I won't rest easy until I've at the very least sent you a thank you card!...I am not a hairy trucker!)

Secondly, there is SOMETHING VERY WRONG with the way we live today, as soon as human beings get involved, everything is less distressing, but for 3 days i've been kept on hold (for 45 mins at one point) and listening to musack (I have fantasies about gun massacres to the BA theme tune) or told that I"m 'in the system' and there is 'nothing more they can do'. I feel positively evangelical that this needs to stop....I want to do something politically activist to make it stop, it is awful, dehumanising.

Thirdly, ironically, I've realised that I can live happily with a pair of jeans, a fleece, a pair of walking boots and a mac. I've swum in the sea every day. Seen seals. Watched ds running as if his life depended on it along the most beautiful beach in the world and seen my dh bloom under the influence of the place he loves most: the highlands and islands of scotland.

Having said that I'm so so so glad to have my bag. Mostly for ds, but jeez it's nice to have a clean tshirt too.

THANK YOU ALL.
