ARGHHHH. FARRRK. PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY ENORMOUS PROBLEM TO DO WITH GLASGOW AIRPORT.

I am in the outer hebrides. we arrived on friday. all except my bag arrived. my bag contains not only ALL my stuff (clothes, make up, shoes EVERYTHING) BUT more importantly ALL ds's stuff (waterproofs, boots, and most most awful, his teddies without which he has trouble sleeping).

BA are being absolutely useless. have spent whole weekend phoning, finally got a human being who was a human being yesterday who tried her very best to find out what has happened to my luggage. apparently it left london city airport for glasgow as it should have (city airport very small and so they know if they have luggage and they don't have mine). but the bag has not been forwarded from glasgow to benbecula (all our other bags were).

so we surmise that my bag is sitting in glasgow airport. there have been 3 flights to benbecula since and none of them have had my bag on it.

the luggage handlers at glasgow airport for BA are Alliance. They do not answer their phone. Even (apparently) to BA. Certainly not to me (it sounds as if they pick up and then put down the receiver immediately, but maybe i'm paranoid).

they will not answer BA's telex's asking them to forward the bag or even say whether or not it is there.

we have until saturday here. It would transform my holiday to get the bag. I phone everyone several times every day. to no avail.

if any of you know a baggage handler at glasgow, or frankly, anyone that is physically at glasgow airport, and could walk round and ask them for my bag, please cat me and i'll give you the ref (or actually i'll give you the ref on here, because i am desperate).

if anyone knows anyone that works for Alliance dispatches who might have a phone number where a human being picks up the phone, would you let me know a number?

if anyone knows a BA bigwig (or anyone in BA who might be able to help me get my bag) please help.

this is such a downer on our holiday and i'm so bloody frustrated that my bag is probably sitting in glasgow airport with no one putting it on a flight to benbecula.

there are two flights tomorrow. if by the power of mumsnet my bag is on one i will be so overjoyed.

any vibes most appreciated too.

midnightexpress pls email me countessdrac at gmail dot com

I can put you in touch with Sophable, not sure how often she can access the internet from where she is

unknownrebelbang · 02/09/2007 23:54

Hope you get this sorted.

Heathcliffscathy · 03/09/2007 08:02

midnightexpress the lost bag reference is BEBBA10737

it's an Antler bag, it has an extendable handle thing, is just about the size that would go in hand luggage internationally, well it would have until recently. it is greyish/brownish/nondescript colour. it has two zip pockets at the front, a big one and a smaller one at the top. it has a zip round it to make the bag bigger and that is open.

the problem seems to be that BA can't contact anyone that does their baggage handling at the airport to confirm that my bag is actually at glasgow or not.

there are two benbecula flights today, one around now, but one later this afternoon (3ish).

it seems totally beyond the call for you to go to the airport, but NO ONE can seem to find out if the bag is there or not, because no one in baggage handling will pick up the phone. allegedly (although if it is the number they've given me, then they are telling the truth as I've been ringing round the clock to no avail).

although at all of you on here trying to help or commiserating, thank you.

am in Yorkshire so can't help, but sending lots of up to Scotland.

Really hope you get it sorted quickly.

Heathcliffscathy · 03/09/2007 08:14

seb, thank you so much, one of those numbers (the aviance one) is NEW> however i've been ringing it for the last 5 mins and no one is picking up (same story).

aviance deffo the handlers, i misheard (the other thing about up here is the phone signal, sometimes crystal, othertimes.....

I've got the numbers for benbecula loganair who are very sympathetic but say they can't do more then they have (sent two telexes to glasgow, apparently that is the way to communicated with aviance!, except it doesn't work as no one has been back to them to let them know if my bag is there or not).

luckily there is a washing machine, but i have two tops and one pair of jeans and am starting to smell.

i'm now going to try the BA desk nubmer (thank you for that) to see if someone will run round to baggage and see if they can get an answer). not hopeful. one of our party, has exec club membership and was holding for an hour yesterday. he was promised that someone had got hold of someone at the desk and was running round and that they would definitely get back to him either way, but no one did.

OK sophable. I wonder if it might help if I know your RL name?! Just so it doesn't seem like I'm some random stranger/international terrorist. I've catted you and have sent an email to Countess Dracula, so you can reply to that if you like?

Standing by...

Heathcliffscathy · 03/09/2007 08:41

I've just emailed you all the details of my name and our flights.

I'm hoping Seb01 will come back on and that maybe her dh can do something?

and I'll be phoning the new numbers i've got thanks to seb all morning trying to get an answer.

sigh.

thank you so much for all that you've done already, it's lovely that anyone gives a sh*t. BA certainly don't!

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS HANG FIRE.

a lovely man from loganair is on his way to glasgow airport to physically check if that bag is there or not.

hope you get this in time to save you the trip, i'm pretty sure he will be able to find out more than you given that he works for the airline.

Ahh have just emailed her all the details soph (tried to call you but it just rang out)

I will email her and put her on hold!

seb1 · 03/09/2007 10:23

Sophable and CD, DH is off today, we are off out I'll check back later, if need be can you give me Sophable's name and I'll see if he can go in and try a find the bag at the various handlers offices, as far as I know Aviance handle BA (to and from London) but Servisair handle the onward flight.

midnightexpress · 03/09/2007 11:05

Too late - I've found it and I've seen it and it's going to be on teh 4pm flight - Soph will email you with details, but Countess Drac could you call her in case she doesn't get online again today?
