Bedgebury is holding a Christmas 'Lapland UK' Experience

... covering a part of the forest with fake snow, Christmas village, Raymond Briggs 'The Snowman' ride, Father Christmas visit, mulled wine to fortify parents, reindeer, husky dogs, trumpeters and all sorts. I'm soooo excited. Er, for my children, obviously...

It's quite expensive though (I just paid £167 for a family of 5). Here is the link. And here is the itinery.

And it's selling out quite quickly.

i have to say one of the reasons we originally booked is because it was proud of its green credentials. Hope it doesn't upset too many local people but do hope it goes ahead!

I am a local, I am also a 'Friend of Bedgebury' I have not objected - nor do I feel the need to be upset!

I wasn't there at the weekend, but the weekend before there was some, erm, speculation about what the 19th would bring.

I don't have tickets personally, but hope it goes ahead. The access road is very narrow, but can't see a problem with the parking.

ruty · 14/11/2007 18:16

yes do hope it is not packed - that would be awful.

I was discussing the 'parking' issue with the friends we're going with. They've read on the site (or maybe in an article) that there would be a maximum of 200 people on the Lapland site at any one time.

Anyone who's been to Bedgebury in the height of summer should be confident that there is enough parking. I've seen them use the field you drive through from the entrance off the lane as an overflow car park when necessary.

Anyway, 'til Monday...

I'm a local too, although do not have tickets.

Hadn't heard that there had been issues about it all, and can't believe that people are getting up in arms about the green-ness etc.

There are concerts held at Bedgebury every summer (think it was Travis this year), and there is always plenty of parking (apart from the field on the left of the main entrance, there is still parking available at the old entrance (the old kitchen garden) and behind the walled garden there is shedloads more (accessed via the forestry commission road)

It may get a bit busy (and the road/parking issues are where this will be an issue, if at all) but Bedgebury are usually very good at organising and marshalling this.

I hope it goes ahead for you all (am very , but decided that it wasn't worth it for us as a family this year)

I got my invite today too. We're going on the 4th, but it will be 'posted' on the 2nd.

Am very excited, but a wee bit concerned that decisions are still being made

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 19/11/2007 20:10

The planning application still has 'pending decision' on it. I'll search the site some more though...
