Bedgebury is holding a Christmas 'Lapland UK' Experience

... covering a part of the forest with fake snow, Christmas village, Raymond Briggs 'The Snowman' ride, Father Christmas visit, mulled wine to fortify parents, reindeer, husky dogs, trumpeters and all sorts. I'm soooo excited. Er, for my children, obviously...

It's quite expensive though (I just paid £167 for a family of 5). Here is the link. And here is the itinery.

And it's selling out quite quickly.

You should make a plan to come to the Birmingham Christmas Market ( FANTASTIC ) and then take the children to see Santa in one of the department stores in bham.

Christmas market is quite simply great

DOT777 - where did you get that figure from - I registered and was not given any such info

eandh · 20/08/2008 09:22

tickets for leeds castle normally go on sale 1st october ish (we always try to go the sunday before christmas so phone early)

2 years ago there was a pantomine and peter pan theme think my dad inadvertley upset tinkerbell that year buit tbh I was 36 weeks pg and couldnt really get int he xmas spiriti included in price

Last year it was a lodge with father christmas in it and ice skating (that plastic stuff) and dd1 loved it (dd2 was only 11months so didnt pay for her last year) although adults had to pay for hiring skates if they went on (dh went on with dd1 think they cost £4 to hire)

We have annual passes to Leeds castle so admission free but if you dont you do have to pay admission on top (was around £30 for the 4 of us but they automatically become annual passes) but if you go before 23rd december you can always borrow our passes as no photos on them ( ours are for 2 adults and 2 under 4's not sure how many children/ages you have)

Agree with emma about the German xmas market in Brum. It is fab, we go every year, normally several times.

charliecat · 20/08/2008 09:27

Bedgebury is 7.50 to park now by the way. 40 quid for the year.

ruty · 20/08/2008 09:27

went to lapland UK last year. It was cynical, money making and cattle herding. Won't be going again.
Went to Germany in December to a few Christmas markets. Wonderful.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 20/08/2008 09:28

Leeds Castle is great, and the tickets lasting for a year is great too. We used ours 3 times last year so it worked out quite well.

Its a lovely walk, we always walk to the play area (its teh furthest point from the entrance) but normally get the land train back as the dd's are knackered (it leaves the play area once an hour or if you walk back past the castle its every 20mins or so)

Havent been in the castle for years (dd's are to little) and we never eat there but always take a picnic and maybe get an ice cream/coffee there.

Last summer dd1 did some of the creative stuff in the indoor bit by play area (t shirt painting think it was £10)

Also by the play area they do the falconery displays just check the times (think they do about 4 a day)

In fact the picture on the front of profile page is me and the dd's at the aviary (sp)area !

charliecat · 20/08/2008 09:33

It was £6 in the spring, but the last 2 times ive been its been its been 7.50. For anyone who goes with six quid jingling in their pocket and gets irate at you being one pound fifty out

DOT777 · 20/08/2008 09:49

Hi eandh & Fio,FIo

Yes it is my first post as I joined yesterday! The reason I joined is becuase I like blog like this and I am a memebr of lots of these type of sites, i'm addicted.

Fio, Fio, I have never heard of a lady being called a prick how rude, I will defianetly report you to Mumsnet for abuse as I have not done anything wrong in telling you what I was told yesterday afternoon.

To aswer another funny question, I have a friend who actually works in recruitment department this year of Lapland UK and she told me about a huge queue, that's all I know.

As for Fio,Fio I hope they take action against you as I am going to report you now.

!!!!!!

Regardless, you only have to read the reviews on here to see how many people dissapointed in Bedgebury last year and to be honest the price increase combined with the credit crunch, increasing cost of living etc doubt many people will have that much spare cash to 'waste'

eandh · 20/08/2008 10:03

Fio - nah elfs are to busy to worry about you

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 20/08/2008 10:08

Dorothy Laine-Fox seems rather obsessed with Lapland UK

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 20/08/2008 10:09

and again

Chocolateteapot · 20/08/2008 10:11

I'm still cross with Lapland UK. We weren't able to go last year as DS was ill. I rang them a couple of days before hand so that they could use our slot for someone else who had been cancelled due to the bad weather and the guy I spoke to said they would be able to use our slot. Asked if they would mind sending us the gift that we'd paid for, was told they didn't know and someone would get back to me.

Needless to say, no one ever did, so very unimpressed with their customer services, combined with the fact that a lot of money was taken last year before planning permission was obtained. There is no way I would consider booking for this year.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 20/08/2008 10:11

and there's more

But I'm off to do some washing up!
