Any recommendations for February? Like hiking, nice food, quirky towns....

Ghost towns! Arizona has a few from what I can see. I'd love that.

Sedona - close to Phoenix, quirky, beautiful, great hiking around Oak Creek Canyon

Flagstaff - lovely college town, lots of lovely cafes and restaurants, close to places like Meteor Crater, Sunset Crater etc

Obvs Grand Canyon lovely but you wouldn’t scratch the surface

Canyon De Chelly is beautiful but smaller than the GC and has great hiking

Antelope Canyon - it's the orange sandstone slot canyon that gets used on so many screen savers and indents. It's a-maz-ing and you have to go there with Navajo people, which brings some other insights.

Second Flagstaff, cool and quirky, plus there's a perfectly preserved meteor crater just outside of you're in to that sort of thing.

We’re flying in and out of L.A.. I assume flying from LA to Phoenix would be the way to go?

Yeah I think so. You can drive it but you’d spend hours doing so and you may as well drive and then hire a car from Phoenix airport.

Check distances! As I said on your other thread (Arizona was one of my suggestions) try Phoenix then Tombstone. Sedona is slightly odd. Good rock formations. Great jeep trips. Very much an weekend jaunt from Phoenix so good for R&R.

Anyone got a suggestion for a 5 day round trip?

I was thinking up to Sedona for a couple of nights, up to antelope canyon then back along 260 through Pine to Phoenix....

Agree with Sedona.

Had a couple of weeks in Pheonix the other year staying with family.

It was bloody cold in January.

Check the weather too - some of the places are at high altitude and may have a lot of snow.

Is Prescott good for hiking....? I’ve got no real feel for what the weather will be like...feet deep in snow or pleasant?

bump as this is coming up soon and while I've booked 3 nights in Sedona I haven't got the first 2 nights sorted. Something a bit adventurous might be good....

Visit Arizona has winter hiking suggestions. Flagstaff might be a good base.

We’re not sure whether to spend a couple of days in Phoenix... would love to go to antelope canyon but seems a lot of driving...

Everywhere is a lot of driving! It’s a big state. I would pin point what you like most within the radius you wish to drive. 5 days isn’t long so driving for a long time doesn’t seem sensible. You have quite a long time in Sedona which isn’t far from Phoenix. Look at somewhere else around 100 miles away. The web site I recommended has loads of ideas. See what floats your boat that you can actually get to within reason.

Also look at Culture Trip for Phoenix and Scottsdale. You might find something you like.
