Any recommendations for February? Like hiking, nice food, quirky towns....

Also there are areas around Flagstaff that might appeal to you.

Grand Canyon, Painted Desert, Meteor crater, Indian reservation

Flagstaff looks good - we were looking at Page and staying there but I don't really fancy driving for 5 hours up there - even though for Americans that isn't much!

Antelope Canyon/Lake powell in Arizona is great. Horseshoe bend and the amazing Antelope canyons. The lake is great for kayaking trips

It is an amazing place, was there a good few years ago. Did the usual GC stuff which was great, and Sedona. Stayed in Scottsdale with my aunt in a lovely community. Her Parish Priest (Catholic) came round for dinner one night and said he was going to Nogales (Mexico) next day and would I like to go with him.

We had a ball, but TBH Nogales was a bit down and out, but it was v interesting to see.. You could get any drug of choice in a pharmacy if you wanted back in the day, but I was very good and didn't bother lol.

I went to see the reservations or whatever we are allowed to call them now, and that was..... odd, lots of gambling going on! But it is all part of the adventure.

Was so different to all the other big cities I had seen in the US. Recommend it. But I am not a hiker, can't help you there!

I envy you. It is so different.

The Saguaro Cactus National Park, which is outside Tuscon, is pretty cool. In Phoenix, the Musical Instrument Museum gets raves on Tripadvisor. In the southern part of the state, the Mission Xavier del Bac is pretty cool.

Sorry to use "pretty cool" twice. I actually do have a larger vocabulary than that.

Do the drive into Monument Valley. Halfway through there is a place to rent horses and ride through the most beautiful landscapes. You will have to go with a Navajo guide, as it is on Navajo Nation land and it is considered a sacred space. They are really wonderful and love to share the history and traditions of the place. The snappy little Mustangs you get to ride are a bonus. You can also stay overnight at The View hotel, owned and run by the Navajo Nation. Incredible views of the Monuments from every room.
