Anyone travelled in business class long haul before?
Any suggestions on what to wear? What to expect? I've done loads of research but would be interested in your own experience

*wear.

And yeah, all the planes are different.

I sometimes fly Emirates business class and sometimes economy. On one flight in business the people in the bar at the back were a bit loud so wouldn’t like to be sitting near the back (on an A380). I wear the same clothes in business that I would wear in economy basically whatever is comfortable for a long haul flight. I do like the mattress they give you on Emirates and I can sleep on a flat bed. I can never sleep in Economy. My best investment on a flight whichever class is my Bose noise cancelling headphones. Can plug them into the entertainment system or watch/listen to my own stuff on my iPad. I was in Economy last week and the time passed quite quickly on a 7 hour flight. Watched a couple of films, the meal, listened to music and the headphones shut out so much of the flight noise. You don’t have to do anything different in business; just enjoy the hot towel before take off and the glass of champagne if you like it.

Download the Emirates app and you can input your travel details, choose/change seat and even see what food/drink/entertainment will be on your flight
Flown Emirates business several times ( on A380 and 777) now and love it....no hassles finding somewhere to park at airport as chauffeur will drop you off right at entrance to check in desk ( and waiting for you at exit of terminal when you land back in UK)
. Food in Emirates lounge at Manchester is very good and there's loads to choose from
I wear soft jersey clothes and a lightweight hoodie and also take change of clothes so that can have a shower at Dubai airport , especially useful if arriving at midnight and have couple of hours before connecting flight. There are towels, toiletries/ toothbrushes and hairdryers in shower rooms
( you only get an amenity kit if on overnight flight more than 5 hrs nowadays) ...business class lounge at Dubai is enormous- if getting connecting flight make sure you leave enough time to get to gate first so you can then chill and drink and eat more
Have a wonderful flight....I love sitting in bar on A380 drinking my Bloody Mary and eating canapés!

I’ve flown Business with Emirates on a fair few occasions. Wear whatever you would normally - anything goes and you are not expected to dress up at all.

As another poster says if you are on a A380 the bar can get a bit lively. Can be fun and a great way for the flight to go fast. But if you’d like some peace, don’t opt for a seat near the back.

checkedcloth · 31/08/2019 13:37

BTW - the lounge is always busy at Dubai, sometimes your struggle to get a seat. Once you’ve found a spot stick to it!

@checkedcloth
Walk down to the far end of the lounge. It's always quiet and more relaxing there. And still has food and drink service.

OP
Wear whatever you wish, be comfy. Lots of women change into jersey lounge wear.
If you're on the 380 the bar at the back is a lovely treat. They have snacks on there too to help yourself to.
Champagne (usually Veuve Cliquot in biz, Don Perignon in 1st) and fine wines all the way. Plus premium spirits. Ask for an extra pillow as soon as you get on the plane.....there are limited extras.
Latest movies and tv series.
Just ask for what you want or need.
And enjoy the experience.

I would wear whatever you are comfortable in. I take dark jersey separates/pjs to change into after take off. I try to sleep as soon as l have had a few drinks and something to eat.
I change an hour before landing and put a bit of makeup on. Enjoy !!

Well I'm flying next week, taken note of advice. Wish me luck!!

I’ve flown business a lot. Getting changed is an absolute faff! There isn’t that much personal space. Make sure it’s just changing your top. I would take the headphones as suggested. Wear something comfortable. Don’t get drunk and dehydrated. Lie flat and sleep - it’s a real treat to lie flat. It’s really easy to enjoy the food and the entertainment and forget to sleep!

whattheactualfuckery · 16/12/2019 04:26

Was wondering about the whole changing clothes. Did sound a lot of faff and have packed spare undies & a top

The toilets are not bigger either! Fewer people using them though! You get a quilt and a pillow. You can take small toiletteries to freshen up. Take a bag with enough space in it to put excess clothes if it’s hot when you arrive or an extra pullover if you need one! I take a large Longchamp
Bag for my hand luggage. I find it works for me but if I was going on business I would take a business bag that fits over the suitcase handle. Samsonite do the best. DH has a matching case and cabin bag. You can pull/push it all along easily and definitely get 4 wheel spinners.

Don’t be tempted to take full advantage of the baggage allowance unless you are going for a month! My main advice stands though: enjoy the champagne, the meal, the entertainment and lie down to sleep! Wake up feeling ok! Get ready for landing by freshening up with about 1 hour to go.

BubblesBuddy · 16/12/2019 09:23

Oh yes! I always pack spare undies and a small hand towel of the hammam type as they take up less space than a fluffy one. The moisturisers they give you are good too!

I flew last week, it was amazing. So pleased I asked here for what to expect etc, nothing came as a surprise and I took it all in my stride. I was so relaxed and enjoyed all 24 hours it, actually looking forward to the return flight
