Beach running southwards of Alcudia is lovely. There are some hotels right on the beachfront.

Cala d ' or is lovely. We've been twice with our children.
Hired villas both times and loved it.

Nice small cove style beaches. Safe for children. Cute 'train' buses that take you from resort to resort. The kids love it.

Kids were 2.5 and I was 29 wks pg with dd the first time and 3.3 and 9 months the 2nd time we went.

Been to Alcudia too and although it was nice where the beach was with the restaurants alonng it, I felt the road made it not as ideal as Cala d'or.

ScoobyDooooo · 25/07/2007 13:21

We went to Alcudia as my sister worked there for a year, we stayed in a lovely 4* hotel right on the beach front trying to think of the name, we had ds who was 3 & he loved it.

ScoobyDooooo · 25/07/2007 13:30

We actually stayed in playa de muro which is a bout 10 mins from alcudia we used to get on a horse & carriage to go to alcudia we stayed in the Viva Blue Apartments, can't do link but here is the address..

thanks princessmel and Scooby; I'll be surfing the next few days, and will look out for your suggestions.

what kinda bucks can I be thinking of for meals out there these days? Years ago, when I went to the Med countries, it was alwasy cheap as chips, but not now everything has gone Euro-fied.

Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa are lovely.

I'e been to many places in Majorca and this is by far my favourite.

In answer to your question about eating out - when we went in June we were spending about 60 euros for a meal for two adults and two children including a couple of beers or wine and soft drinks. Not especailly cheep but cheeper than home.

Wolfgirl · 25/07/2007 14:23

60 euros!!!!!!!!!! LO very L. grief Ive been too long from travel scene and going out in general. that works out at about £40 per meal! Aaaarrggghhh! I was planning on £50 a day! seriously. Oh my giddy aunt! oh my flippin buggery nora.

OK, got a grip, breathe in, breathe out. 60 euros. breathe in, breathe out - seriously? in- out, in-out.

I guess if it was a main meal, with drinks, then not so bad.

No, s'no good, gotta go lie down.

Ok i have a holiday brochure here & it says as follows -

Typical 3 course meal £15
Bottle of wine £6
Glass of wine £1.20
Tea/Coffee £1.50
Soft drink £1.20
Glass of beer £2.00

This is an average cost for Majorca.

Wolfgirl · 25/07/2007 14:28

Ho-kayyyyyyyyyyyyy - better, recovery could be imminent.

We planned a daily amount too. Not sure what it was though. Dh sorted it.

We usually ate out in the evening and had lunch at the villa, fresh crusty bread, cheese etc. The supermarkets aren't cheap either though...

Wolfgirl · 25/07/2007 14:32

anyone done All-inclusive? any mileage?

OP posts:
pinkteddy · 25/07/2007 14:32

We found it about 60 euros to eat out in majorca, 2 adults and 1 child. Last time we went all inclusive which costs about £50 a day all in for 3 of us which covers all meals and all drinks including wine and beer. We found this a much cheaper option. We stayed at hotel cuidad blanca, iberostar in alcudia. There is another iberstar further along in alcudia too. You can book direct or through thomas cook. Booking direct usually cheaper though if you can get reasonably cheap flights.

pinkteddy · 25/07/2007 14:34

x posts - must be a mind reader!

ScoobyDooooo · 25/07/2007 14:34

I agree with the booking direct my sister booked ours direct to the apartments & it was alot cheaper, we then booked our flights which were about £130 each.

wannaBe · 25/07/2007 14:35

we went to sarcoma (sp?) and stayed in a thompson super family hotel. much entertainment for the kids there with minni disco etc. We ate out locally though and it only cost us about 35 euros for a meal with two adults/one child with wine/beer for dh.

so maybe the bigger resorts are more expensive?

Wolfgirl · 25/07/2007 14:36

OK, how about this then??? anyone booked a holiday with Tesco clubcard vouchers? we have a few, but doubt enough for a holiday. I guess then you are limited as to which company you go with

(can you tell, we on a budget LOL)

mosschops30 · 25/07/2007 14:36

Wolfgirl can I just say that I think 60 euros is a bit steep.
We went to Menorca again this year (so similar prices) and spent on average 40 euros per meal in the evenings for 2 adults and two children including soft drinks.
We would drink local beers then back at the hotel bar.
Just bought croissants for breakfast and rolls for lunch to eat in apartment. We took £1000 for 14 nights and had some left which we spent on goodies on the last day. HTH

ScoobyDooooo · 25/07/2007 14:37

I remember ours being about 40 euros & that was 2 adults & 1 child, we were eating out by the harbour in Alcudia & also along the strip in alcudia.

mosschops30 · 25/07/2007 14:37

lol wannabe sarcoma is a form of bone cancer

sa coma ????

Wolfgirl · 25/07/2007 14:38

ooooh, eating out along the harbour, warm breeze, smell of the sea, cooking, atmosphere buzzing...Mmmmmm, oooooh I wanna go like NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
