Hi all

I need a french to English translation for a bad review on a house I'm going to book. I can't copy and paste the text into a website on my phone and it's long so don't want to type it out. I have taken a screen shot. Could someone help me? Just want to know what we are getting into. Every other review is good but this one is 2 stars and detailed.

Thank you!

Can’t you just post it?

Cuppa12345 · 19/05/2019 22:13

Ive just worked out how to do a scrollshot. It was too many pages to post otherwise which is why I was going to pm it!

Is it too poor quality? It looks OK on my phone in my photos... Bloody technology

Here's part of the review in better quality (hopefully!)

Not enough cutlery for 6 people, I get that bit 😂

It’s too fuzzy to read.

Cuppa12345 · 19/05/2019 22:17

What about the next photos of part of the review?

OP posts:
itsboiledeggsagain · 19/05/2019 22:18

They are right fuss pots. Hard to read but included complaints that the stairs too steep, something about shutters, draughts. Lots of stuff I couldn't care about.

Said the fridge was small for 6 people and no freezer.

A positive was that you could walk to the beach.

That is not all of it but some flavour!

itsboiledeggsagain · 19/05/2019 22:19

Dog poo.
It is for sale.
Blah blah moan blah

Cuppa12345 · 19/05/2019 22:19

Every other review is 5 stars so I was hoping these people left one of those OTT reviews about a storm in a teacup.

OP posts:
itsboiledeggsagain · 19/05/2019 22:20

I'd say so.
I wouldn't like to go on holiday with them that is for sure :)

winnybella · 19/05/2019 22:22

Broken plug in the living room, plug placed low on a wall in kids’ room.
Parents’ bedroom without doors so no privacy

Cuppa12345 · 19/05/2019 22:23

Thank you so much! I've booked it but worried about ice for g&ts now. Will have to slum itWink

Ok I'm just going to put this out here. I have had holiday rentals for about a decade (in France). I put my heart and soul into every holiday for everyone. Sometimes people are disappointed, but it's generally because expectations have gone awry. Ours is a beach house, done for families and dog friendly. It's comfortable but not luxurious. But a bad review is really really awful and we go out of our way in a huge way to avoid them.

Are these complaints really justified or is it a question of them not really reading the description? I can't read what's in your massive screen shot but it really looks massive. It's difficult to imagine there was really that much wrong if it's still standing.

Did they inform the owners/managers of the issues and give them a chance to put it right or is this the first they know? If so that's unacceptable on their part and likely to be in contravention of terms and conditions.

If you want to send it to me I'm happy to have a look.

Seems like the owners live next door, didn't immediately identify themselves as the owners, and let their dog poo in the garden/yard of the rented villa. Which is for sale with for sale signs outside. The rest of it is nit picky stuff about plug sockets not being safe, stairs too steep, utensils and no freezer. Whether it bothers you obviously depends on your circumstances- with small kids I'd be a bit put off by dog poo and potentially dangerous plug sockets ;)

BareBum · 19/05/2019 22:26

Fridge too small for 6 people.
No freezer.
The owners pretended to be friends of the owners on the first night and then said who they were the next morning.
They discovered dog poo on the lawn and had to pick it up themselves. After that the owner put the dogs out in the road for the rest of the stay.
For sale signs up, which meant passers by wanted info about the house.
Dilapidated.
Anyway, you get the picture. I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole.

converseandjeans · 19/05/2019 22:26
  • fridge too small
  • no freezer
  • not enough cutlery for 6
  • 'ambiguous' presence of the owners who are in adjoiing house - no fence (i.e. it wasn't made clear they were owners)
  • discovered day after arrival some dog poo on the lawn - from the dogs of the owners - they had to clear the mess up - more of a problem due to no fence - they did for the rest of the stay avoid sending dogs out into the shared garden though
  • 2 for sale signs attached to building
PoorRichard · 19/05/2019 22:29

I can only read the first part, but as others have said, fridge too small for six people, no freezer, dogshit from the owners’ dogs, the owners living next door without their outdoor space being separate (hence dog shit), and — weirdly — the owners originally saying they were friends of the owners, and only admitting to being the owners the next day.

Cuppa12345 · 19/05/2019 22:30

These are just a few of the good reviews. The negative one I posted is the only negative one at all... Its so weird

They do sound fussy. The fridge is too small, there isn't a freezer, there was a bit of dog shit outside bla bla. There were so many grumbles I wouldn't take it seriously myself. Especially if other reviews were good.

SpeckofStardust · 19/05/2019 22:31

Loosely in part one:
Fridge too small, no freezer, not enough plates and cutlery for six.
No fence between properties, some dodgy friends of the owners staying next door turned out not to be friends of the owners (?)
Dogs belonging to owners running loose and crapping everywhere the renter had to clean it up,
The place is for sale and there are for sale signs up with brochures in baskets which led to the renters getting pestered by passers by for information and viewings

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/05/2019 22:31

I think there’s a couple of points missed between your 2 photos. The long scroll one has something about 3 bedrooms but I can’t see it properly. It’s after the bit about the stairs but before the bit about the fridge.
