Hi all

I need a french to English translation for a bad review on a house I'm going to book. I can't copy and paste the text into a website on my phone and it's long so don't want to type it out. I have taken a screen shot. Could someone help me? Just want to know what we are getting into. Every other review is good but this one is 2 stars and detailed.

Thank you!

  • something about the conversion rate Euros/pounds not being accurate
  • most of furniture in basement is shabby and in some cases dangerous
  • shutters don't close properly
  • windows not insulated (I think)
  • stairs dangerous and narrow
  • power point not the normal ones used

There's 15 4 and 5 reviews and then that shit one...

Thanks so much everyone, it's really helpful. I think we will just have to manage our expectations!

You can always use Google translate for this stuff - open it up, take a photo or hold your phone in front of the text and it will translate it all for you, no need to re-type!

Perhaps the Brits have lower expectations! it sounds like it might be an older property? The French are obviously not taken in by Hugh dropping by with a bottle of red.

I couldn't hover over the text as I'm on my phone and I couldn't see how to upload a photo on Google translate. I had tried for about 20 mins before posting here!

It's not all English good reviews. German and French too. It just shows me the english ones first!

The complaint about the currency from the French people is that it's billed in pounds (both the deposit and the rent) so they will lose money on the currency transfer. Making it less appealing to French people, which is fair enough. I live in France and would prefer to be able to pay in euros. It sounds like it's owned by English people who are aiming to attract English clients... and that the French people had higher expectations!

On Android phones you just highlight the text with your finger, tap on the 3 dots on the right and tap translate and it automatically detects the language and translates it (roughly) for you. For a lot of text you may have to do it in chunks though.
