Looking to go for two weeks during the summer hols. Ideally one week in one place one week another. 3 children age 16, 10, 6 so need a variety of activities. Ideally walking distance to bars and restaurants. Would like to be near somewhere lively and fun rather than remote/romantic!

Zagreb. Split.

AHF1979 · 07/05/2019 09:28

We went to Porec last year. I loved it. Had a beautiful seafront walk into the little town with lots of bars and restaurants. The harbour had various boat trips(including to Venice) and water sports etc. Lots to do. Felt very safe and people were lovely and friendly.

This year I am trying Trogir near split which also looks lovely. Both holidays were really cheap too.

We're off to Split in August for a few nights, then to Primosten for a week (about an hour away)

A couple of years ago we had 12 days in Cavtat and loved it. Hopped on the ferry to Dubrovnik a few times. We took out a boat to the islands and went kayaking. Lovely place. Not a huge amount to do but very relaxing and friendly. Loads of restaurants, teens enjoyed watching the locals practice water-polo in the evenings and googling the names of the posh yachts to see who owned them. Smile

The islands? Fly into Split, have a day/night - sail to Brac or Hvar, have a week. Then sail to Korcula or Miljet and have a week. Fly out of Dubrovnik.

AHF, could you tell me more about where you stayed please, I'm looking to go there but not sure where to stay.
We went to Croatia a few years ago, it's gorgeous.

AHF1979 · 07/05/2019 14:04

ssd we stayed at Bellevue plava Laguna in a two bed apartment. It was clean and modern and really cheap. We had a great time. This video shows the area well m.youtube.com/watch?v=cHuL4OCplMo&feature=youtu.be too. Good luck

AHF1979 · 07/05/2019 14:09

Also just remembered one trip we did...a sunset dolphin watch trip.. it was magical! Free wine was also actively encouraged, it was lots of fun. We did attempt Venice but the sea was rough so that fell through for us. Still had a great time.. food was super tooSmile

ssd · 07/05/2019 18:07

That's s so funny, I was just looking at that hotel!!
It would just be me and dh, is it more of a family place?

AHF1979 · 07/05/2019 19:25

I didn’t notice many kids but only had one pool day. Went with adult dd and her bf, they’re in their 20s and spent more time lounging around then we did and also enjoyed it. I think the whole resort had a more adult vibe tbh, I found it all quite romantic! That’s not to say I wouldn’t recommend for families too.. just really chilled out. There’s no Brit bars or anything like that..just nice wine bars etc.

ssd · 07/05/2019 20:02

Did you book through jet2? I think that's where I seen it.

AHF1979 · 07/05/2019 20:05

No I think we used loveholidays.com

ssd · 07/05/2019 20:19

I've had another look, it's too expensive for us just now, does look lovely though.
We stayed at apartments srebreno when we were there, it was fab, really quiet modern 2 bed 2 bathroom apartments with full use of the Sheraton pool and facilities next door, tennis courts etc
Gorgeous place with a short walk back in history through bombed out abandoned once grand hotels.
Great holiday for a family with teens, we got the ferry to dubrovnik too, 20 mins. Fab.

AHF1979 · 07/05/2019 21:03

Srebreno looks lovely. OP I don’t think you can go wrong in Croatia.

Ssd have you tried skyscanner for flights and played with dates? Planning cheap hols is my fave hobby if you need any helpSmile

ssd · 07/05/2019 21:34

That's a good idea, I hadn't thought of that! I'll ask you if I need any advice if that's ok? We've got a real limited budget but itchy feet!!

AHF1979 · 07/05/2019 22:04

My Croatia hol in August is £280 pp inc flights accom and transfers. Ask away 😀

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 07/05/2019 22:07

What have you booked AHF?

We have done Porec. Loved it. We did a boat trip to Rovinj.

When we went the 2nd time we stayed in Rovinj and did the boat trip to Porec.

Croatia is my dream destination

ssd · 07/05/2019 22:08

Wow that's good. We're in Glasgow and would be going in mid June. Probably more expensive from up here?

MenstruatorExtraordinaire · 07/05/2019 22:13

Is it good for a girls weekend away? Planning early July. Can't decide where to go.

avocadoincident · 07/05/2019 22:17

Cavtat. Beautiful fragrant woods and marina

ssd · 07/05/2019 22:21

Cavtat is just along from srebreno.

AHF1979 · 08/05/2019 09:39

Ssd Glasgow to Dubrovnik is £151 PP 13th-20th June. I’d then use booking.com to look for accommodation.

MenstuatorE- I’d say so yes. Not a bad flight time..about 3 hours.

Parky04 · 08/05/2019 09:41

Opatija. Went there last year. Absolutely beautiful.

AHF1979 · 08/05/2019 09:41

What have you booked AHF?

Flights to split and a two bed apartment in Trogir for 4

ssd · 08/05/2019 14:24

Thanks, will look into that.

onedayatatime73 · 08/05/2019 19:57

Can anyone recommend lovely accommodation in Split and Dubrovnik? It will be our only holiday of the year. So happy to spend.
