.....no, have decided to delay it by a week or so......Mr Mozhe is on 'incubator watching' duties....P-in-L's are manning the home front,( and DSsX3...), with nice new aupair....and Mozhe,Nanny and DTs are off to St Barts,( in lovely Carribean...),for a week's sun/swim/chill out !!
Any one been before ? Any pointers ? Off first thing tomorrow......

'numpty' is a common insult in the city, means the same as muppet.

Hope Mozhe is indeed fictional as the weather forecast for St Bart's is dreadful - 90F every day and thrunderstorms and cloud. It's generally like that in July though so so suprise there.

chocolatedot · 17/07/2007 12:58

I also disagree strongly about the so called Victorian attitudes on thsi thread. If progress is a woman being congratulated on taking a long haul holiday and leaving her new born baby behind (prem or otherwise) then you can keep it thanks. It's just about humanity, not femininism.

ladylush · 17/07/2007 12:59

Erm, no that's not what it's about is it.

whywhywhy · 17/07/2007 12:59

mmm chocolatedot that weather forecast does make me suspect she might be exaggerating a bit. Because the caribbean has wet & dry seasons doesn't it? (ignorant emoticon)

dobbysayswoof · 17/07/2007 13:00

Er...

I don't think a single person on this thread has actually congratulated her, chocolatedot. I think you might be missing the point.

whywhywhy · 17/07/2007 13:02

It's not about 'progress' at all. Women have been leaving their babies for centuries & in the past it was certainly acceptable for the upper classes at least to do so.

A feminist is no more likely to abandon her baby than any other woman or to encourage other women to do so. (God I can't believe I'm having to actually write that...)

It's about the assumption that only WOMEN are 'unnatural' if they choose to leave their newborns.

It's normal for a man to do so, clearly. And that is what is depressing.

Walnutshell · 17/07/2007 13:02

whyx3 - I can't find much depressing about so many advocating close contact between newborn and mother.

ladylush · 17/07/2007 13:03

Agree whywhywhy.

Walnutshell · 17/07/2007 13:03

Whyx3: It's normal for a man to do so, clearly. And that is what is depressing.

Yes, this is more the point.

ladylush · 17/07/2007 13:04

Well that is the point - we don't agree it is or should be more normal.

whywhywhy · 17/07/2007 13:05

Afraid it does depress me walnutshell because of the complete refusal to see how that naturalises an exclusive mother/child relationship, as if ONLY a woman, and indeed the 'natural' mother, can guarantee the wellbeing of the child.

It's not only wrong but offensive (as other posters have pointed out) to women who for various reasons can't physically be with their babies. And even to those awful harridans who choose not to, assuming we allow them the status of 'normal' human beings.

ladylush · 17/07/2007 13:06

Isn't it offensive to the dads too?

Walnutshell · 17/07/2007 13:09

I can see that point. But is that really what mozhe was saying...?

chocolatedot · 17/07/2007 13:16

I disagree entirely, I would find it equally bizarre for a father of a prem baby to choose now of all times to go on a long haul holiday. After all the 14 month old twins aren't going to care if it's St Bart's or the beach on the Seine. They've all got the rest of their lives to enjoy the Carribbean.

I haven't missed the point about the congratulating. You seem to be criticising people for expressing shock, bafflement and distress at someone choosing to go on holiday many 1000's of miles from their newborn, ill baby. I admit some posters have been unduly personal and harsh but the alternative is to tell her to have a lovely time and perhaps give her the names of a couple of sushi bars. To my mind, that's tantamount to endorsing her decision.

think its daft and a waste of time to still discuss this, mozhe is obviously either not around anymore or just sitting back lurking and laughing

coddy · 17/07/2007 13:22

oh god stop stop stop

DiagonAllieBongo · 17/07/2007 13:24

Kewcumber · 17/07/2007 13:25

does cod have some inside knowledge then?

JoolsToo · 17/07/2007 13:26

she'll have been, gone and come back by the time this debacle is over!

LoveAngel · 17/07/2007 13:27

I think I feel another rendition of Copa Cabana coming on...
secures feather headress, takes deep breath, prepares to go back on stage...

DiagonAllieBongo · 17/07/2007 13:28

doesn't the fish know everything? she is the only one i recognise as all these name changes confuse the hell out of me. i can't beleive this is for real, i have not come across mohze before though. i asked yesterday, but my posts got lost in the kerfuffle

MamaMaiasaura · 17/07/2007 13:31
