Everywhere we hae looked won't accept families...or more to the point..babies.

All we want to do is to stay in a lush 5* hotel fri and sat night BUT everywhere we have tried won't accept families or claims to have no family rooms.

DH & I o want to get away for the weekend with dd (2) and ds(21 weeks). We have had a bad 5 months since ds's birth and want a break away for the 4 of us......Its also our 3 year wedding anniversary next week..and we want to chill before ds undergoes a major operation in a months time...

Does everywhere 5* discrimate against families wanting luxary..? Surely this shouldn't be allowed..? There would be uproar if they said Fat people can't stay here etc....

oh bugger, bugger, bugger. Someone please put me out of my misery and find me a hotel with a room on Friday and Saturday. I'm starting to go a bit bonkers - budget £200 - £230, in the Lakes. Please......

How about The Knoll?? Its not 5* - more very nice b&b, but it is lovely - my mum has been?

Dottydot · 12/07/2007 22:38

ooh - was checking on laterooms.com at 5pm today and there was a room at the Low Wood! Hadn't come up before so I grabbed it!! Waaaaaay over budget but I don't care.

MamaGryffindor · 12/07/2007 22:43

I've been to crag wood

not in the lakes... but for future references... the The four seasons Hamsphire is fab... 5 stars and love babies.... lots of activities for them, and you won't want to leave the hotel for the weekend....

spa, swimmingpool, horseriding, fishing...

I loved it!

right, need to add this thread to my favourites for when we book. Well done dotty. Have a good wekend. Not sure what we are doing this weekend now.
DH & I discussed a weekend away and ds is due (hopefully final) operation at the end of august so thinking of going away for 4 days the week before his operation....Not sure where. Either lakes or may venture aboard..Marbell......???

Thanks to everyone though for you invaluable help advice. I will be back no doubt . xx

Just back! Had a wonderful time and sshhhh - wanted you to know that the Low Wood is very family friendly! You can get cbeebies, they do child menus and there were quite a few families with young children staying.

But without children it was even better..!!

MamaGryffindor · 15/07/2007 15:43

oh good, glad you enjoyed it

shhhh · 16/07/2007 19:35

ah just read this dotty. Glad you liked it.....thanks for the suggestion, I will keep it in mind for when we decide/if we decide to go away next. Think I have missed my slot with regards to a weekend break ..!!
As you can see,now thinking of going away end of aug for a weekend...Marbella is an option BUT.....maybe disneyland paris... Just want to book it asap so at least I know its booked iykwim..!!

Thanks again for letting me know. Hope it was a relaxing break. x

Having lived there and visted these places my top 2 would be Drunken Duck and The Samling. Don't rate Low wood at ALL!

Langdale Chase maybe but a bit tired possibly?

shhhh · 16/07/2007 20:00

Langdale chase is EXPENSIVE for what it is. You are right,, it is very tired looking. My sister for married there and it cost us around £500/600 for a night IMO not worth it. Lovely setting and views BUT not worth that.
FFS I was 6 months pregnant and our room only had a bath, which I couldn't even lift my legs to get into! Had to end up showing in my mum & dads room .Not ideal when you have paid so much.
