Would you take a 7 month old baby to sharm-el-sheikh in October?

Hi all,
I’m wanting to take my baby on holiday next month he will be 7 months old before I go back to work, what are everyone’s thoughts on taking a baby to sharm? I’ve been a few times and never had any issues with the food/water or being ill however A babies immune system isn’t as strong as an adults, I will be taking pre-made formula so I don’t have to worry about getting the correct water, I am also currently weaning my baby, I would really appreciate people’s thoughts on this before I book. Thanks

No. But then I would never want to go there myself. I'd just find somewhere much nicer.

No

NotUmbongoUnchained · 27/09/2018 19:43

No way.

Itchytights · 27/09/2018 19:43

Most definitely not.

Enigmam · 27/09/2018 19:45

Nope!

frenchfancy · 27/09/2018 19:46

No

exLtEveDallas · 27/09/2018 19:48

How are you getting there? Single direct flight or 2 stop?

I wouldn't have an issue with it, other than the pain in the arse flight. I'd probably stick to formula and pouches rather than trying him on the food, but then I'd be the same with a baby that young in any country, including our own.

ihatethecold · 27/09/2018 19:50

nope.

Croatia2018 · 27/09/2018 19:59

EXLT-It would be a direct flight and thanks I never even thought about taking food with me, I would feel loads better about that.

I’m really interested in the reasons why everyone is saying no, is it because of safety? Or do people think Egypt isn’t really appropriate for a baby? Thanks

If you do go (personally I wouldn’t) then take your own food for baby; pack a suitcase of Ella’s kitchen pouches etc. The risk of food poisoning is too great to let the baby eat anything there in my opinion.

Alicatz66 · 28/09/2018 16:26

I think unsafe and unsuitable for a baby .. one of my work colleagues just spent over half her holiday in bed with food poisoning there.... there are way nicer places x

Grumpbum123 · 28/09/2018 16:27

Nope

Singlenotsingle · 28/09/2018 16:32

I would never go away on holiday ANYWHERE with a baby! It's not for the baby's benefit and they won't enjoy it or appreciate it. They're out of their comfort zone, in unfamiliar surroundings, going to be grizzly and probably won't sleep. The flight will hurt their ears and there's the food/water problem. Nightmare!

Rebecca36 · 28/09/2018 16:40

No.

frenchfancy · 28/09/2018 19:25

And at 7 months everything is going into their mouths, so even if you take your own food you can't control everything that goes into their mouths.

blue25 · 28/09/2018 19:28

No, too risky and you wouldn't want him needing treatment in an Egyptian hospital-trust me!

itbemay · 28/09/2018 19:32

Read the foreign office guidance then decide

welshweasel · 28/09/2018 19:32

Yes I’d absolutely take a 7 month old to Egypt. We go fairly regularly although didn’t take DS until he was 15 months but would have if the opportunity had arisen. My only issue would be flying into Sharm, I’m not sure I’d be happy that all the issues have been resolved. But hurghada or Marsa Alam, no issue. We’ve been at least ten times (we like to dive) and have never been ill. We always stay in 5 star resorts, the food is wonderful and the Egyptians generally love children. We are hoping to go in May with a 3 year old and 4 month old. The bottled water is absolutely fine. I’d take some pouches of food though.

Alwa · 28/09/2018 21:57

Have you been to Sharm? It's beyond dire.

The airport isn't my idea of safe either.

gylly · 28/09/2018 22:00

Everyone I know that have been there hated it. No desire to go at all.

QueenOfMyWorld · 28/09/2018 22:00

It's not advised to go to sharm at the moment with terrorist risk

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 28/09/2018 22:03

I think the food safety issues aren’t insurmountable.

But it isn’t safe sadly any more and no, i wouldn’t take a baby there

maddjess · 28/09/2018 22:03

I wouldn't take any of my children there tbh

JeezYouLoon · 28/09/2018 22:15

No and I wouldn't even go myself, no matter how cheap it was.

If I wanted winter sun I'd go to the canaries.
