Can anyone recommend a 5* family resort in Europe

Hi, I’ve posted a similar query in the travel advice section so apologies if this repeats but I wasn’t sure where to put it.
A friend has just suggested that someone on here may be able to help. We have 4 children ranging from 14 down to 4 and I’m looking for a holiday for next summer. I’m struggling to find anything within our budget which I thought was quite good but it appears not (10k) I don’t mind AI as long as it’s not a ‘Brits abroad’ who can be drunkest and loudest by lunch type of place. I’m looking for highest ratings on TA but I’d be happy with 4 upwards as an official rating but 5 TA rating if that makes sense. I understand I’d get more for my money in Turkey than Majorca but I’m open to most places. Oh and as there’s 6 of us so I guess I need a 2bed apartment. Thank you. Our budget is around 10k but we could stretch it slightly. It doesn’t seem to go far according to either Tui or TC though.

Try zafiro palace Alcudia or palmanova. If you like cocktails and nice food these are great places. Aimed at younger children though

Mrsladybirdface · 30/08/2018 20:52

Rixos I'm Turkey are good too (well they were 11 years ago!)

Chosenone · 30/08/2018 20:56

Agree with any in the Zafiro chain.
Also Togaro dream resort in Playa Blanca ... Lanzarote.
Or the best in my opinion a cruise on Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas. Two itineraries in the med next summer leaving from Southampton. Exceptional service, entertainment and facilities for kids and teens.

ShesABelter · 30/08/2018 21:00

Have you tried Nielson holidays?

We stayed in occidental lanzarote mar and occidental Lanzarote playa and liked both my kids were 13, 8 and 4 and had a brilliant time and made lots of friends.

£10K will go a lot further if you book the flights & hotel separately rather than through the likes of TUI. You rate TripAdvisor so why not just go with their hotel rankings in an area you fancy then use Trivago or Kayak to find the best price on it?

Etino · 31/08/2018 08:36

Why Europe? If it’s for the time difference or flight time I’d consider Morocco- the 5* experience isn’t very ‘European resort’ imo. You can get it in Cities in Europe but not beachside.

Capri? Morgano

Ricekrispie22 · 31/08/2018 09:03

It looks like you can get a week at in a 6-bed room at Family Hotel Amarin (AI board without flights) for £5000.

Helpmefindaholiday · 31/08/2018 19:35

Thank you, @Mrsladybirdface. I’ve just priced the Zafiro Palace up and it’s over double our budget.

Thank you, @ShesABelter. I’ve just looked at Neilson too and again over budget but I really like the look of them so I’ll explore some more.

Thank you, @Chosenone. I’ll look at some other Zafiro hotels. I don’t think a cruise is for us whist the kids are young. Maybe in a few years.

Thank you, @SJane45S. You’re probably right. I just don’t think I’m confident enough and I wouldn’t know where to start. I did look at one site that wouldn’t let me put more that 3 children into the system.

Thank you, @Etino. Yes, mainly flight time. Plus, I’m not sure the Caribbean is at it’s best in August. I’d worry it’s too close to storm season. I’ll have a look at Morocco although if I’m honest Morocco and Tunisia make me nervous (rightly or wrongly).

Thank you, @RiceKrispie22. I’ll take a look at that hotel.

Sani, Greece?
They have a variety of accommodation worth looking at.

Redteapot67 · 31/08/2018 19:41

Ps book a villa and flights separately

HemanOrSheRa · 31/08/2018 19:42

Have you looked at Ikos resorts? Not sure if you'll get a holiday for 10k but if you could stretch your budget slightly.....

We stayed at the Ikos Oceania a couple of years ago - it was amazing!

Melliegrantfirstlady · 31/08/2018 19:43

What’s your dates? What airport

DialsMavis · 31/08/2018 19:47

We were at Yacht Classic in Fetiye Turkey recently... We were on a sailing holiday moored on the pontoon so I am not exactly sure if it s 4star or 3 but it was really really nice and extremely good value.

Sarahandduck18 · 31/08/2018 19:49

Finding 2 bed apartments in hotels is hard!

schopenhauer · 31/08/2018 19:57

Atlantica resorts maybe. I’ve been to the sensatori one in Crete and stayed in suite. I only haves 2 dc but I think there was room for 2 more. Would be much cheaper to get one big room I suspect, but a suite gives a bit of privacy at least!

BaconAndAvocado · 31/08/2018 20:37

Just returned from the Atlantica Mare Village hotel in Cyprus.

5star, gorgeous food, swanky accommodation (book a swim-up room), nice clientele(mainly Scandinavians), amazing staff....we couldn't fault it. Just over 5K for a week for four.

We'll definitely be returning Smile

Lindah1 · 31/08/2018 20:42

Another vote for atlantica sensatori in Crete - was amazing. Not sure about price though as we went off peak

FogCutter · 31/08/2018 20:53

Another vote for ikos resorts, absolutely gorgeous.

EmeraldVillage · 31/08/2018 20:59

Sani is lovely but eye wateringly expensive in my experience so suspect you won’t get in August for your budget.

Tbh I would suggest going to a good independent travel agent, they should be able to help.

noenergy · 31/08/2018 21:11

There are a lot of great hotels in Anatalya with great waterparks and funfairs for kids. Your budget would go a long way there if you book flights and hotels separate. Look at trip advisor for hotels.

Earslaps · 31/08/2018 21:23

We've looked into nice resorts in Europe and it seems too damn expensive at the moment.

So we're considering a cheapish caravan in France next year, then heading off to Borneo or similar the Easter after that.

We went to Florida in October (including park tickets) a couple of years ago for less than a fancy hotel in Europe in the summer holidays.

Cornwall73 · 31/08/2018 21:27

The Martinhal resorts in Portugal are top notch and utterly wonderful.

Potcallingkettle · 31/08/2018 22:09

Put your requirements in booking.com and they’ll come up with ideas. Would a villa and flights booked separately be an option? I just put 2 adults and 4 children in for Alcudia and it suggested some fabulous villas with pools.

MajesticWhine · 31/08/2018 22:17

I was going to say Sani
