Anyone want to recommend me a city break ??

Just Friday to Sunday in September. Not more than 2.5 hours on the plane. I'm thinking Copenhagen or somewhere in Norway or Switzerland or something. Been to Berlin, Barcelona, Paris so none of those.

We would like not too much travel time so also from airport and not hugely expensive. Just a nice city where we can spend some time together for the first time in years!

Any ideas?

Budapest. Awesome city.

Thank you. I did think of this but I think it is 4 hours from London Which seems a long way for a weekend

Florence is just my favourite place. So much to see and do and so many lovely places to just do nothing in too.

Amsterdam? Amsterdam is beautiful and really interesting.

Lisbon is fabulous. As is Stockholm. Been to both twice and would highly recommend

Krakow! Beautiful small city that is easy to get around, lots to see and do (Oscar Schindlers factory, Jewish quarter, Auschwitz) lovely food and incredibly inexpensive. Stay at The Globtroter guesthouse- perfect location, clean and very friendly staff who will collect you from the airport too. Can highly recommend.

Norway is £££, so avoid Oslo.

Amsterdam is fab. I had a great weekend there!

MsHomeSlice · 01/07/2018 19:16

we went to Vienna last september, it was lovely, although the weather was fabulous so that probably helped.

also been to Venice this year in April, weather was terrible, AquaAlta and the flood sirens went off!! In spite of reservations, we both loved it, and would love love love to go back!!

Amsterdam...we are return visitors there too...great place!

Rome is amazing

Seville. But not in August!

Flight time to Budapest from London is only 2.5 hours, not 4. I think it’s +2 hours ahead though which is why it might seem like a longer journey. Definitely a great destination for a weekend break. That said, all the destinations suggested by pp are great, I’m going to add Stockholm to my list.

Viienna. Easy bus from the airport then trams and walking to get around. Absolutely beautiful city.

starsinyourpies · 01/07/2018 19:33

I rate Amsterdam too, perfect for a quick trip as such a short flight time.

TinyTickler · 01/07/2018 19:35

notacooldad · 01/07/2018 19:38

My favourite city breaks are
Oslo although it can be expensive. I've been 6 times in 18 months and love it.
Gothenburg is nice
Berlin is eclectic and loads to do.
Nuremberg is charming.
Porto is lovely and a weekend is just enough.
Reykjavik is nice for a weekend (can be expensive bit interesting and loads to do not far from the city.

Alicante city is lovely, very Spanish, a working city, people helpful but not much English spoken, we went in April for a short break, loved it and would recommend.

SwedishEdith · 01/07/2018 19:50
