Nice places to go away in the UK for the weekend?

Hi all, me and my boyfriend go away on the weekend every month when our two children are at my mothers. Any lovely places in the UK you can recommend to us, we would love somewhere with nice views and somewhere with lots of beautiful drives and lovely hotels. Isle of Wight seems to be our favourite place at the moment :)

We stayed at a beautiful place in the Peak District. The cottages we stayed at were called ‘Dannah cottages’. Can’t recommend them enough x

Peak district. We stayed near curbar and did curbar edge, ladybower reservoir. Chatsworth house

We love the isle of Wight too!

I live near the Peaks and i’d also recommend a visit. Carsington Water, Dovedale, Matlock Bath and Bakewell are some nice spots to visit.
Dorset is also lovely. We’ve had lots of holidays in West Bay where Broadchurch is filmed

As you mention beautiful drives then Church Stretton in Shropshire where you can drive up onto the Long Mynd and beyond there to the Stiperstones.

Or the Black and White village trail, a 40 mile drive from Leominster in Herefordshire.

headinhands · 06/07/2018 12:32

The Peak District. Gorgeous views, walks. We went on a boat through an old tin mine. It was amazing.

GahWhatever · 06/07/2018 12:35

We had a lovely weekend in Shropshire last year: stated at a gorgeous glamping place with alpacas (Temevale near Tenbury wells)and walked with alpacas one day then spent the next day in Ludlow. Beautiful place..

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 06/07/2018 17:08

I'd go to North Devon from there - not sure if it's too far for a weekend though.

fencote · 30/07/2018 20:48

Lake District - stayed at Holbeck Ghyll - walks from the hotel. Good food and had the most relaxing hot stone massage in my life. We had a lake view room (birthday treat) - definitely was special!
