Dh and I are going to cardiff in 3 weeks time for a few days for our wedding anniversary. Does anyone have any recommendations of places to visit or things to do, only know there is great shops and cafes but would like to do something other than shop and eat Also good places for eating out. Thanks xx

Deep Dave must have been a career-barman then - he must have been there for years as I graduated in '91. Probably one of those eternal students doing course after course after course - I had a friend like that, I bet she's still there.

He really did have the deepest voice in the world. So were you there 90-93, Califrau - we crossed over for a year, if so (though I stayed on a bit with dh and then came back to visit til the end of '92)

I was 88-91. I knew a few people who did music and I was in the choir for a while (they didn't want me in the orchestra as they had enough flautists). I did English but we were such a massive group that we had lectures all over the place - not just in the humanities building.

French was much the same - we had some of our grammar lectures in the psychology lecture theatre!

marthamoo - I would have been happier in the orchestra too - but as I wasn't a single honours music student, they wouldn't have me! Unbelievably, they had more than enough trombonists ... I hold the Cardiff University Music department completely responsible for me stopping playing. Until I went to Cardiff, I was playing semi-professionally (making quite a nice living to!) ... have hardly got the trombone out of the case since - it's now in the loft! Not at all bitter & twisted!

Califrau - dh did a phd at Cardiff too - graduated in 96 - so we lived the student life for quite a while too ... dh is still working with the company that he and 2 of his friends set up during the phd days!

I sold my flute on ebay last year - hadn't really played it since I left sixth form. What's the betting one of my children gets the burning desire to learn to play the flute now?
