Would this be ridiculous? (two nights, no hotel)

So basically a friend and I are looking at going away for a couple of nights very cheaply. We're both early 20s. We want a bit of fun, a bit of sun, but we're on a tight budget. We've seen flights to Ibiza for £80pp rtn, but the hotels are double that! We had the crazy notion to not book a hotel at all... so we would get a good rest at home on the morning of the first day, fly out at 4.30pm and land at 8.30pm, and would hit the bars/clubs straight away. I gather it's quite an all night scene so could party through to the morning. Then get some sun loungers on the beach and doze/sleep in the sun throughout the second day, and then go out again on the second night and then the flight home is at 1.20pm on the third day so we could go straight to the airport in the morning to wait for the flight.
Things to consider- would we be able to take smallish backpacks into the clubs, are there public showers on the beaches to shower during the day (albeit in bikinis), we'd have to be careful not to get too drunk as a hangover would be horrendous! The two of us could take turns to nap during the day to keep an eye on each other/valuables. I've been to festivals before and feel like it could be a similar feel to that?! Would this be awful/ridiculous, or a bit of a laugh and a cheaper way to have some fun/sun?? Grin

There are definitely public showers on the beaches but I don't think you could take a backpack into a club unless it was one of those tiny ones?

oeufdepaques · 31/07/2017 20:59

I think it's a bit risky really. You don't want to be taking all your valuables into clubs. And you would need a reasonable sized backpack - although you could leave that in the cloakroom.
What about when you want to go for a swim together?
Have you tried looking for a hostel with shared dorms? They will have lockers for your valuables.

SorrelSoup · 31/07/2017 21:01

I would get a hostel.

pigeondujour · 31/07/2017 21:01

I really wouldn't. Very risky and sounds miserable.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 31/07/2017 21:02

Youth hostels are very cheap.

KimchiLaLa · 31/07/2017 21:02

What would you do with all your stuff?

I would book a hotel.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 31/07/2017 21:10

I think you would be miserable after the first night and you'd be wishing so much for a room and a bed!

Look at hostels, my DD has used them throughout Europe. If you share with others it is really cheap.

Allthebestnamesareused · 31/07/2017 21:12

Maybe airbnb

readyforno2 · 31/07/2017 21:13

Airbnb is your friend here.

Millybingbong · 31/07/2017 21:15

I will never be setting foot in a club again but would have done this in the past. In fact I did - we slept on sun loungers in the early hrs. Loads of pesky flies though.

monkeywithacowface · 31/07/2017 21:15

Sounds like great fun until the person watching your bag falls asleep by accident from having been up all night and your passport and money gets stolen.

I'm probably old and boring but I agree that by the 2nd night you'll feel horrific. Honestly save up and go a little out of season when it's still warm but much cheaper

spectacularvelvet · 31/07/2017 21:15

I'd say travel superminimally - and go for it - you'll have a brilliant time ..... so jealous!!!!

HemanOrSheRa · 31/07/2017 21:17

Oh my god! I would die. But I am old Grin. I do know people who did this in Spain but they were young and lovely AND blagged a couple of nights in our villa when they got pissed off!

DryIce · 31/07/2017 21:20

I did this when I was 19, it was brilliant.

Cargo pants were the rage then, which helped with the storage. My poor passport never quite recovered from the foam party though!

Redtartanshoes · 31/07/2017 21:20

Drinks in Ibiza £££££

Have a look at cheaper destinations

showergel1 · 31/07/2017 21:23

First night no problem, second night you'll want a room and a shower.

ChilliMary · 31/07/2017 21:26

Sounds exhausting and a bit risky. There are loads of basic b&bs, that are cheap but safe.

PovertyJetset · 31/07/2017 21:26

Ibiza is super expensive, getting into. Bars and clubs, drinks etc. It's probably one of the most expensive places!

NipInTheAir · 31/07/2017 21:27

I'm not sure how pissed you can get away with but ds 22 just did eight nights in the Greek Islands. One on a fisherman's boat they thrown off of at 5am (was hard and famp), one on lilos in a forest (luxury), one on a beach (dog pack arrived about 1.30).

They had a really great time. Quite tough outward bound lads. They really appreciated the abnbs they had each side and said whilst it was a brilliant rite of passage they wouldn't do it again.

They just took a rucksack each. They stank on return.

monkeywithacowface · 31/07/2017 21:28

Actually I don't think it's an age thing I would have been too boring to do this even as a teen. I used to pay a fortune in taxi's to get home to my remote village on a saturday night as I didn't like sleeping on friend's bedroom floor. I like my creature comforts too much!

Ankleswingers · 31/07/2017 21:28

Aside from all your stuff getting stolen/ lost, what about things like getting ready, a shower, the need for the toilet ,a decent kip in an actual bed, getting time in the shade so you don't get sunstroke? ( I sound so old!! Really, I'm not that old but am a Mum now so less carefree!)

I would have done this myself but it is risky.

Definitely airbnb, even from one night.

Good luck and have fun Smile

Firsttimemama2017 · 31/07/2017 21:36

It's been a good few years since I've been to Ibiza but we used to stay in really cheap apartments in San Antonio Bay. About a 20 min walk to the main action but better than sleeping on the beach.

You will be hanging after partying all night and trying to sleep on beach so the second night won't be much fun!

I also remember staying somewhere called Hotel Norte, no air con, mostly workers but pretty cheap as I remember!

bbpp · 31/07/2017 21:41

I'd do it, but I'm that sort of person and I wouldn't recommend what I do - I, certainly not risk averse.

If I did it, I'd make sure I have some way of making sure all my belongings don't get stolen. Padlocking your bag to your subbed/bikini top if necessary? Or maybe a local train station would have lockers? They'd only be a couple quid and you could take stuff as you need them.

I think the fact it's ibiza, and not somewhere where it's quiet and more dangerous on a night, would make me feel more secure doing it.

Eminybob · 31/07/2017 21:41

You can probably get lockers somewhere in San Antonio to put your stuff in.
I reckon I could have done this in my youth, no problem.

muggymum · 31/07/2017 22:01

Have you mentioned this idea to your parents?
