Just arrived at a villa in Spain. Had a nice afternoon when another family arrived.
The company are denying receipt of our payment but we have receipts as proof.
We have agreed for both families to share for tonight.
We need.help in how to move forward with this?

Do you have travel insurance? Ring them

sm40 · 27/05/2017 23:11

How did you get in if they didn't tell you???

Missnutter · 27/05/2017 23:14

It's actually a friend who's in this situation. With young children also. Keys were left outside.

How did you get in? And surely you have some receipt of payment?

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 27/05/2017 23:18

Keys were left outside? Really?

VanillaSugar · 27/05/2017 23:19

Who owns the villa. Is there a rep.? Why say "we" when it's a friend? Are you actually in Spain?

user1491401693 · 27/05/2017 23:20

Haven't we had this before?

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 27/05/2017 23:20

Yes, why DID you say it was you?

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 27/05/2017 23:20

How was the villa booked?

ExplodedCloud · 27/05/2017 23:21

Did either family pay on a credit card? Do both have insurance?
They need to speak to credit card companies to confirm payments went through and they should be able to get a new payment authorised. Can you see if there's anything near them that's available?

skyzumarubble · 27/05/2017 23:21

Is it you or a fried?

Where was it booked through and how was it paid for!

Missnutter · 27/05/2017 23:22

Got all proof of receipts and bank payments. But company denying it. So it's there word against my friends. The other family apparently has been paid.. they just don't know what to do tomorrow if company still denying it's an error and 2 bookings were made. Any help would be appreciated.

Bloody autocorrect - you get the jist

GavelRavel · 27/05/2017 23:23

what is the point of this if its not really happenning to you?

Missnutter · 27/05/2017 23:23

It's my friend. Trying to get information/help for her as not very good WiFi and feels useless.

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 27/05/2017 23:23

Why were the other family paid? Surely it should have been them doing the paying. You're not making much sense

Waltermittythesequel · 27/05/2017 23:24

Why did you say it was you?

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 27/05/2017 23:28

The other family's insurance has paid do you mean?

Missnutter · 27/05/2017 23:36

So my friend has paid and arrived today. And another family has arrived today and also paid.
The company is saying they've only received payment from the other family. My friend has proof of her payment.
They just don't know what to do about this and whether they should just come home tomorrow?

Any time I've stayed at a villa, the owner gives instructions where to collect / find the key.
Has the villa been let via two different agencies?
Your friend needs to get on to whoever her agreement is with urgently.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/05/2017 23:38

The Op is trying to get help for a friend who is prob stressed and not on mumsnet. She was paraphrasing for clarity hence the short sentences and saying we?

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 27/05/2017 23:39

It's the company's responsibility to sort it out not your friends. If they have double booked then they need to find alternative accommodation for one if the families

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/05/2017 23:39

Why did you say it was you?

yumyumpoppycat · 27/05/2017 23:40

Did she use the correct account details when making the payment - was it an online thing or a transfer?

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 27/05/2017 23:41

Why did you say it was you?

I think they were probably posting brief details. Only allusion to it being them seemed to be "we need help."

Which company is it?
Do they has a social media presence or trip advisor page? Is it a company who let out for an owner?
