I normally start this thread every year (apologies if there has already been one -can't see one though) but where is everyone planning to go in 2017? I love to hear everyone's plans and all the interesting and lovely places you are all thinking of heading!

Lac de Chalain is gorgeous. Hope you get good weather.

TheUpsideDown · 09/01/2017 09:24

Thanks MarciaBlaine we're really hoping for some decent weather too.

Any advice of places to visit in the local area?

Flambola · 10/01/2017 16:36

Salou in May and a cottage in Shropshire (I think) in August. Holiday to Salou is only £800 for me, DH and DD, all inclusive.

Cottage is being paid for by in-laws.

Butlins twice one just for tots break in May and one normal week in July.
Probably also rent a caravan in Cornwall or Wales in August.
Would like to go away in February but too many little ones to go abroad and too cold in the uk.

Stopyourhavering · 10/01/2017 17:00

Long weekend in Edinburgh next month, possibly NW Scotland Or Italy for a week in July and then somewhere in Indian Ocean for 30th Wedding Anniversary in Sept/Oct ( looking at Sri Lanka, Seychelles, or Maldives!!)
First time in 23 yrs we've been on holiday without dcs!

HattietheManatee · 16/01/2017 22:02

Ooh, I like this thread.
We have already booked almost all our holidays for 2017.

10 days in Mechelen, Belgium, Easter
2 weeks in Skane, Sweden in a cabin in the woods
1 week in Morocco (flights sorted, need to book accommodation) October half term
Weekend in London (8 days ago), just me and OH
Short break to Cardiff in Feb half term
Weekend family breaks to Alton Towers; Hampshire for Peppa Pig World; Brownsea Island
A solo long weekend in Malaga
OH has a cycling long weekend in France

Done through combo of house swaps, competition wins, and work offers to keep costs down.

Is it wrong that I'm hoping for a couple more weekends away, preferably cheap or free!! Will also do a weekend camping trip or two.

TheStorySoFar · 17/01/2017 07:04

We haven't booked yet....first family holiday abroad in 9 yrs (hopefully!!). Now have 4DC & are considering Eurocamping or a Villa. Those of you who have booked a Villa: can I ask about the Companies you use? I'm a little fearful-the Company we've used in the (distant) past went bust...TY.

Figgygal · 17/01/2017 07:07

Weekend in Devon probably 2 but only one booked so far
Week in Portugal
Multiples weekends in Scotland (home)

cauliwobbles · 17/01/2017 07:32

Disney then Captiva at Easter, Edinburgh to see Pandas in July and Italy in August. Hoping to get a weekend in the New Forest with DH if we can convince family that DD3 is a joy to spend the weekend with!

dreamingofsun · 17/01/2017 10:01

thestorysofar - i always book direct with the owners using holidaylettings.co or ownersdirect. Don't book using their website as you pay a premium for no gain (this is something new they have introduced recently). read the reviews. I have had better experiences doing this than using a south wales lettings agency whose house was disgustingly dirty. for eurocamp i would use www.campsites.co.uk to read reviews of the sites

Two weeks in July/August taking DS1 and his three DCs to Dreams La Romana in the Dominican Republic; they love it so much that we are returning for a third time. DH and I are doing a cruise in the Baltic in the Autumn. DH has started looking for options for Florence in the spring.

mummymeister · 17/01/2017 11:59

Oregon for our main summer holiday this year. not at all touristy so just our sort of place.

Thingvellir · 17/01/2017 12:11

We are going to Cape Verde for Easter, just booked it last week - the third time to the same hotel so very unimaginative but I just want guaranteed sunshine and relaxation!

Don't know for the summer yet, probably drive to France for a couple of weeks.

TheStorySoFar · 17/01/2017 18:35

When is May half term? I'm in NI & we don't have it, but need to know the dates as prices all seem to be higher then & would like to avoid if poss!
