I normally start this thread every year (apologies if there has already been one -can't see one though) but where is everyone planning to go in 2017? I love to hear everyone's plans and all the interesting and lovely places you are all thinking of heading!

We have just got back from Majorca.

Loved it! Beautiful mountains, warm sunshine, nice beaches and a lovely, quiet time to go if anyone's looking for a winter break.

I'm dying to go to Iran but I don't think the bank account can oblige. Sad

Maybe Venice for the Biennale instead, although saying that it'd probably be just as expensive as Iran. Grin

With any luck, New Zealand between Oct/Nov and March/April for 5 months. If you can call that a holiday anyway?

CPtart · 04/01/2017 16:47

Fuerteventura in Feb, Alicante in May and Cyprus in August.

WritingHome · 04/01/2017 17:33

Lots of lucky people on this thread having 3+ holidays this year!

MazDazzle · 04/01/2017 17:39

Cuba in July for a fortnight - family of 5. I need to start saving!

belleandsnowwhite · 04/01/2017 17:57

Baltic Cruise inc St Petersburg in August

KitKat1985 · 04/01/2017 20:18

On a budget this year (on maternity leave) and also decided we couldn't face flying with a baby and toddler, so we're staying in the UK and having a week in Dorset in June. Should be good though, and are intending to do Paultons park and Monkey World.

keeprunninguphill · 04/01/2017 20:22

Madeira in April and Florida in August.

nursy1 · 04/01/2017 21:23

Booking Tromso, Norway. Cheap flights from Gatwick. Best chance of seeing northern lights in a short break.

Oldraver · 04/01/2017 21:39

New Forest for a week August Bank Holiday

GemmaB78 · 04/01/2017 21:46

Black Forest in April (OH's family live there!)

Month long trip around the Baltic in July (Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and Sweden)

Nothing else planned. OH is looking for a new job which will probably require a relocation in the autumn so can't plan anything beyond the summer.

StinkyMcgrinky · 04/01/2017 21:47

2 weeks in a chalet at a camp site in the Dordogne in June. Our first proper holiday since having DC who will be 2.5 and 1 when we go (DS2 will celebrate his 1st birthday while we're away)

I've seen a lot of Europe and travelled quite a lot during my younger years but have never been to France! Any tips for must visit places while we're there?

Would love to go on a city break to Moscow, but think I'll have to wait until I don't have two small children in childcare Sad

BonnesVacances · 04/01/2017 21:47

Malaga for Semana Santa at Easter with MIL
South Devon in the caravan for May half term
Undecided about the summer still. Either France in the caravan or the UK somewhere. We got the Wild Guides for Christmas and they have inspired us to explore the UK some more.

magentastardust · 04/01/2017 21:50

loads of great holiday ideas - I really need to get deciding !

Schoolchauffeur · 04/01/2017 22:07

Weekend in Dublin in May
Week in June touring the Outer Hebrides with MIL and FIL and DH
( followed by week lying in vat of gin to recover)
And September 2 week cruise Transatlantic to New York and on to Canada with DH - very excited!

MissJSays · 04/01/2017 22:24

This is a good idea. I've had loads of fun noseying at other people's holiday plans!
Last year we went all out with 2 weeks in the Dominican Republic. This year we're spending a week during Easter hols in Torrevieja, Spain in my parents villa. Then going to New York during the Summer hols for my 21st! Me and DP both work in education so are stuck to school holidays.

Stopmithering · 04/01/2017 22:27

I am pretty stunned at all these holidays.
I don't think of myself as badly off, but do not have the sort of money to afford more than one holiday abroad every two to three years.
Is there a knack to cheap holidays which I don't know about or is everyone else loaded?!?!?
I also wonder if it's a mindset thing, I find thinking about holidays rather stressful....

GemmaB78 · 04/01/2017 22:43

Our week to the Black Forest will only cost the flights. The Baltic will be in a camper van and is our honeymoon, so we don't mind splashing out!

LouiseBrooks · 04/01/2017 23:00

stopmithering I tend to book last minute and Greece is cheaper than some countries. We go S/C and tend to just have a toasted sandwich for lunch, but we do eat out every night. I don't have to go in school holidays though. I also have friends who live in Spain and Paris so visit one of them every couple of years.

I also love researching and planning holidays!

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 05/01/2017 00:42

Hanging gardens of Babylon in Feb
Lost city of Atlantis in July
Butlins at Bognor in October
We are buying a new unicorn this year so money is tight

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 05/01/2017 00:43

Oh and we might squeeze in a trip to zoflora land in Denmark
