Would you fly 16 hours for a 7d holiday

Trying to use Avios.
We've only got a week and there's no availability direct but we could go via ME. DH thinks it's nuts but I think it'd be ok. Club if that makes a difference.

Yes, I flew 17 hours I think it was to get to Peru for a weeks holiday. It was a pain but I was quite young! I wouldn't do it these days with children.

No

mumblechum0 · 11/12/2016 17:28

Yep flew approx that to Maldives via Qatar for a six night break. Business class so v comfy.
It was a surprise from dh tho, so I didn't actually decide to do it 😊

RusholmeRuffian · 11/12/2016 17:29

Yes

Branleuse · 11/12/2016 17:33

I would without children.

soonbejanuary · 11/12/2016 17:36

Mumble same destination Wink. It's BA to Doha overnight but lands in ME at 4am for 90 minutes so not much chance of sleep.

I'm torn, when I haven't flown LH for a bit I forget how knackering it is.
DH flies for work a lot and really isn't keen.

Oh I definitely would to go to the Maldives, it's so beautiful and relaxing when you are there. I've been there for a week, didn't even stop to think about it.

mumblechum0 · 11/12/2016 18:36

God yes, just pack your bag and go. It was the best week of my life (beach villa at 4 seasons private island)
Bugger the jetlag

Josiesmum0 · 11/12/2016 19:29

I'd do it. I'm flying 26 hours for a week in a couple of months. Family commitments and limited time available.

For a week on a tropical island flying upper class? It's a no brained.

GinSolvesEverything · 12/12/2016 08:19

No brained? No brainer....

campervan07 · 12/12/2016 08:20

Yes in club. But not with little kids.

blueskyinmarch · 12/12/2016 08:23

Yes if in Club. The flight is a lovely part of the whole holiday if you are in Club.

Somersetlady · 12/12/2016 08:27

Is the 7 night holiday inclusive of travel so actually only 5 days in resort?

I would go if flying was outside 7 days (so really 9 days away) but not for 5 nights in resort.

I would probably head to Barbados direct for 7 nights all in instead otherwise.

Parker231 · 12/12/2016 08:29

Definitely and especially if you are in Club!

choppolata · 12/12/2016 08:29

Yes if the timings are right and the 7 days is actually 7 days of holiday.

mumonahottinroof · 12/12/2016 08:31

In club, yes.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 12/12/2016 08:35

We went to Barbados for 5 days pre kids! It was amazing!
Not sure if you're taking kids but just a word of warning we have just got back from Australia the children (1 and 4) took 4 days each way to recover from the jet lag so not much fun if you're only there a week..

soonbejanuary · 12/12/2016 08:48

Thanks, I'm taking the comments onboard.

7 nights on the island but the outbound is overnight with a wait at 4am.
Return is a day flight. But we'd only need to pay taxes, so the flights would be free. I think we'd be mad not to, DH needs convincing he's tired at the moment and doesn't want to go anywhere

I agree the Caribbean would be much better, 8-9 hours direct but I don't think the weather's much good in October.

Oh, and no DC. Who will be furious students.

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 12/12/2016 09:05

No, 2 weeks min for any further than europe

Somersetlady · 12/12/2016 10:11

Barbados is lovely in October weve been once in september and once in october. Not sure on other parts of Caribean as tend to head to BB.

If flights are free in club could you see what upgrade at desk is?

7 night in resort will be fine as worst flight is outbound and will be forgotten about once your toes hit the sand!
