Has anyone used the 1 week fast track service lately? Does it take a full week or are they able to push it through quicker? Appointment on Monday, travelling on Saturday I'm sick with worry about it!!

Hi @wingingiteveryday @saffy1234 @Katiejen82
Further to my thread of yesterday, a few hours later I got a call from the Passport office to say my son’s passport was ready for collection at 1.30pm!!!
When the phone rang it said ‘no caller id’ and I thought it was my bank as I was not expecting a call from the passport office that day having called them earlier to chase it up and having been firmly rebuffed.
The sense of relief caused me to almost collapse like a sack of potatoes!
I immediately called my husband who duly went to collect it at 1.30pm and by 1.45pm he sent me a photo of the new passport in his hands! ( I had hand written a letter authorizing him to collect it on my behalf). Shortly after, I booked a new flight for him and little one which lands today so they will get 5 nights in Spain before the holiday ends, which I’ll take as a win.
Here is the timeline:
On discovery of expired passport at midnight on Wednesday 14th August, I called passport office on morning of Thursday 15th August and got an appointment on Friday 16th August at 7.45am.
On Saturday 17th August I flew to Spain with my elder son.
On Monday 19th August I called passport office to chase up and was told firmly it would take 7 days.
On Tuesday 20th August I called to chase and again was told it would take up to 7 days.
Later that morning at about 12.30 they called me to say it was ready to collect in at 1.30pm.
So basically took 2 working days!
I hope that gives everyone hope and just remember to keep chasing each day and to plead your case with the agents.
Hopefully they will put it at the top of the pile for you!

What base was this at? We fly on Wednesday and my partner has lost his passport and can't get an appointment till Monday so hopefully it comes within 2 days.

@gertrude53 which passport office was this? I'm panicking for my child's first passport. Earliest appointment is this Wednesday and we're supposed to fly out the following Tuesday. 😬

Did you know this bit scary for those with a teenager: Something important that is often overlooked by parents applying for a teenagers passport is that if the child is turning 16 within 2 weeks of the appointment date then they will not be able to use the 1 week fast track service, found it here: www.passports-office.co.uk/blog/one_week_fast_track_passport/

The would only apply if it was the 1st ever passport and they hadn't had a child passport before.
