Has anyone used the 1 week fast track service lately? Does it take a full week or are they able to push it through quicker? Appointment on Monday, travelling on Saturday I'm sick with worry about it!!

Just in case anyone is unfortunate enough to find themselves in the same position as me:

Had appointment at London office late afternoon Monday (just before closing). Past for 1 week fast track (fastest option for child renewal).

Informed yesterday that it had been printed at 1pm (so less than 48 hours from appointment!)

Text today saying it’s due for delivery today (but not counting my chickens yet!)

Amy1011 · 08/08/2019 10:33

Hey everyone

Does anyone know how long they take with fast track child passports 3 days in and I’m travelling and still nothing not even looked at yet and I’m really worrying now

itsabongthing · 08/08/2019 10:39

See my message above for my experience. I phoned the advice line every day to check how it was getting on. Won’t make it come any faster but at least you would know if there was a problem. They also told me yesterday it had been printed and I hadn’t had a text update or anything. Good luck!

Amy1011 · 08/08/2019 10:57

Thanks, all they keep telling me is it hasn’t been looked at yet :( and they still need to do there security checks

jesuschristwtf · 08/08/2019 22:02

Ahhhh I’ve got an appointment tomorrow in Peterborough and I fly on the 20th. Child passport too. I’m SO nervous.

itsabongthing · 09/08/2019 12:33

It’s certainly a very tense wait.
20th should be fine.
My Dds arrived as promised about 24 hours after they said it had been printed. So the Thursday lunchtime after the 4.30pm appointment on Monday.

Amy1011 · 09/08/2019 14:28

Does anyone know how long it takes normally when it says under examination? Thanks and good luck everyone

Chillichutney1 · 12/08/2019 13:36

@Amy1011 how do you know the application is under examination? Hope you received the passport ok.

All we were given is a barcode reference and it says no update on progress will be given. We went to the London office on Friday, hoping it comes this week

Amy1011 · 12/08/2019 15:49

@Chillichutney1 they should of given you a ref number on the paper and when you call you quote that number to them and they tell you the progress , I still haven’t received my children’s one still under examination :( hope you have more luck with yours and this information was helpful

Chillichutney1 · 12/08/2019 19:11

Oh no Amy 1011, have you missed your flights? I wonder why they haven’t even looked at it yet? Hope you have alternative arrangements in place.

That doesn’t bode well for us. Did you send it by post or go to the office? We had an appt at the London office, and have a reference no. Will call them tomorrow morning, worried about what they will say now

jesuschristwtf · 12/08/2019 23:10

yikes - I'm still waiting. My appt was in Peterborough last friday.

Gertrude53 · 13/08/2019 03:37

saffy1234 · 13/08/2019 07:27

Im in the same boat however i travel 23rd ,my appointment is tomorrow ,my appointment is in Newport.Im away all weekend I'm assuming they don't deliver sat/sun x

itsabongthing · 13/08/2019 09:33

@Chillichutney1 even though it says that no updates will be given, you can still phone the advice line and ask and they will tell you: I phoned every day just to check it was moving along as it should. I just explained I was anxiously waiting and they were sympathetic and had a look for me.

jesuschristwtf · 13/08/2019 09:41

I received the passport today - so 2 days it took, the discount the Friday as it was after 230pm I think.

Chillichutney1 · 13/08/2019 14:52

Thank you, i called the helpline and they said it was currently under examination so fingers crossed it goes through ok

Chillichutney1 · 14/08/2019 09:31

Still under examination today - the operator also told me the day we had the appointment may not count as the first day so it might be 8 days Shock so we’d miss our flight if it came on Saturday. So nervous now

saffy1234 · 14/08/2019 14:15

I have got everything crossed for you @Chillichutney1
Just had my appointment at 11 today
X

Chillichutney1 · 14/08/2019 17:37

Thank you @saffy1234, I just called again (do they note down when you call in do you think! hopefully not) and they said it has been printed and hopefully go to the courier. Fingers crossed

I can take my countersignatory off high alert, I had asked them to keep their phone on loud and with them at all times Confused

I hope your passport comes quickly saffy!

saffy1234 · 14/08/2019 19:30

So pleased to hear that @Chillichutney1
Thankyou xxxx

I hope mine goes smoothly we’ve really royally cocked ours up! We’ve renewed the family passports as and when they need and we’ve all been away separately so it totally slipped our brains that our youngest sons passport ran out last month! We discovered this yesterday and are due to fly on Tuesday!!

I’ve managed to get an appointment in Durham for tomorrow morning and both me and his dad are going with my son and pretty much every document we have, birth, marriage, flights booked, passports (for us!)

Does anyone think there’s any chance at all? My thinking was that if we could show we were a family they’d be less inclined to delay?

My husband and youngest son are prepared to come out on a flight later next week if it come to it but I’ll be honest... I’m shit scared of going all the way to Barbados without my husband!!

HELP!!

Musickyle73 · 20/08/2019 09:04

Hi
I feel your pain...
I found out last Wednesday that our 5yr old son’s passport expired a month ago, with three days to go til our holiday in Spain. I made an appointment at Globe house for fast track passport first thing on Friday morning.
As I was the one who booked the tickets, we decided I go ahead and take my elder son to Spain and leave the little one at home with my husband til the new passport arrives. ( we cancelled his ticket and will have to buy a new one once new passport arrives)
I am now nervously waiting, checking my phone each hour for a text.
I called them yesterday lunchtime and asked if they could expedite the checking process seeing as we are separated whilst I’m on holiday but they could only reiterate that it is a 7 day service. I think I was expecting them to say they would give us preferential treatment due to the circumstances, so I got off the phone feeling deflated and weighed down by the enormity of my whole, stupid mistake. Whilst on phone, I opted to have my husband fetch the passport in person as soon as it’s ready instead of delivery by courier. You can only choose one or the other and they couldn’t tell me which one is a quicker service, so I made the decision there and then and hope it will work out for the best. If it doesn’t arrive by tomorrow or day after I think I will have a nervous breakdown as our holiday is only 10 days long and we are already into our 4th day...

saffy1234 · 20/08/2019 09:31

saffy1234 · 20/08/2019 09:31

Hellohi hahaha i meant hello!

wingingiteveryday · 20/08/2019 10:00

I'm in this exact situation. I'm due to fly tomorrow,
realised on Friday my passport has been missing since camp bestival. Spent the entire day pulling the house and car apart and crying (a lot, I am 14 weeks pregnant) . Got an appointment for this morning and the man I spoke to on the phone said to present my case to the officer and at their discretion, they might be able to push it through. Well he has such a bad attitude, he wouldn't even let me speak! He said the very earliest I will get it is next Wednesday (I think he meant latest) but I wasn't about to argue with him about it. I am just hoping that by some miracle it comes on Thursday or Friday and I can catch my family up. This was obviously going to be our last break as a 4 and to say I'm gutted is an understatement. My kids don't want to go without me and I have a week booked off work and not sure whether I should cancel or wait in for the postman driving myself mad? The posts of them coming in 2 days has given me a small amount of hope Smile
