Just back from holiday there, first time on any Balearic Island for all of us.

I just loved it.
I am now looking at holiday lets for the October school week Grin

How did I not know about this magical island??
Confused

I also found a wonderful property available to buy for a mere 5.8 million Euros Grin. V nice it is too. I may start playing the lottery….

miranda -puerto pollensa would definitely fit that bill.

Missanneshirley · 17/01/2017 20:48

Reviving this to ask if anyone has booked for 2017?Puerto pollensa for us this summer Grin

MirandaWest · 17/01/2017 21:05

We have booked Smile Staying in a villa inbetween Pollensa and Puerto Pollensa for a week in August. And then one night in Palma as the flights back cost hundreds more on a Saturday so staying one night more was actually cheaper.

Am getting a bit excited Smile

deste · 17/01/2017 21:13

If you like quiet, rustic and picturesque look at Cala Figuera on the east coast.

beatricequimby · 17/01/2017 21:16

Yes we will be in Puerto Pollensa in July. Can't wait.

Missanneshirley · 19/01/2017 22:22

See you there beatrice! I haven't been for YEARS, really looking forward to it.

KinkyDoritowithsparkleson · 28/01/2017 20:03

Booked to go to Puerto Pollensa for the first time in July. Have never been to Mallorca and really hope it lives up to the things I'm reading as it sounds perfect Smile.

A1Sharon · 28/01/2017 23:54

We went last year for the first time and have booked again this year. A villa just outside Pollensa. It is so gorgeous there I spend every day dreaming about getting back. Can't wait to have dinner in the square and the Sunday market!

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 01/02/2017 22:37

We'd love to return after a wonderful trip to Pollensa a couple of years ago- any good companies or villas people would recommend? Went with Villa Select before but seemed on the pricey side.

Dabisadancemove · 02/02/2017 09:35

Villa Plus is pretty good for Pollensa/Puerto Pollensa. We have been there every year for the past 9 years (sometimes more than once). It is my happy place Grin

A1Sharon · 02/02/2017 12:13

We used Villa Plus last year, they were good. Villa el Cel was ours.
This year we are going with Solmar Villas I think.

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 03/02/2017 15:10

Thanks will check 'em out!

HemanOrSheRa · 05/08/2017 17:10

I'm reviving this lovely thread (It's not a zombie yet Wink) as I followed it and found it so informative at the time that I booked our very first family holiday to Mallorca. We are off in just over a week.

We are staying in Playa De Muro at an AI hotel. I know this isn't for everyone but it's me, DP and DS (12) - DS is a sociable lad and this works for us.

Does anyone have any day trip tips, places to eat out etc? I have booked a Sunrise catamaran trip from Puerto Pollensa. We are happy to hire a car and not particularly worried about being beholden to the AI Smile. I'd like to use this as an opportunity to explore a bit so that when DS is older we can take a friend or two for him.

Noofly · 05/08/2017 17:41

Oh, I was trying to find this thread a few days ago! I've been posting in the Mallorca thread currently just below this one, but we're just back from Soller. Absolutely loved it! Trying to work out whether we could retire there in 10 years or so! Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 05/08/2017 17:52

Ha! I've kept my eye on this thread, it really did spur me on to book our holiday before we'd gone on last summers. I think you have given me an idea for something DS would love Noo Smile.

Noofly · 05/08/2017 19:14

We also did sea caving, Heman near Cala Romantic (the company does transfers from lots of parts of the island included in the cost). It was super- really really different and my DS and I loved it! I don't really want to advertise the company online as it was far more difficult than they advertise on their website and they haven't bothered to respond to my polite email pointing out their misleading info. DD ended up really frightened and had to go back with DH before entering the cave.

However, if your son is a good swimmer and doesn't mind swimming 200m in the sea and a bit underwater/through swelling water (only a few seconds, but they don't explain this!), I'd highly recommend it. Once in the caves it's very easy and it is absolutely stunning. If you google it you can work out who we used.

Noofly · 05/08/2017 19:14

Cala Romantica, not Cala Romantic

HemanOrSheRa · 05/08/2017 20:03

Thanks Noo. DS loves surfing and body boarding in Cornwall with me. DP doesn't like it though. That kind of decides who will accompany him Smile.

OBface · 07/08/2017 15:07

Just read this entire thread as off to Mallorca on Friday Smile

Staying for the most part in Soller but have 3 nights at the Illa D'or in Port de Pollenca booked at the end of our holiday.

Had some EXCELLENT advice from Noofly on the Soller bit and been spoilt for choice with restaurants. Struggling however to find the same for PP. Have two restaurants booked in the old town but need recommendationsfor the third night. Are there any lovely beach cafes etc.? We're dining pretty formally the rest of the time so something relaxed/not too heavy would be wonderful.

FabulouslyGlamorousFerret · 07/08/2017 15:47

Ooh help me wise Balearicers! ... we are looking to book for next May, our criteria
• Suitable for 11 and 13yo DS
• beautiful beach on the doorstep

• good standard of accommodation
• not too long a transfer as I get travel sick!
• budget of around 2k
• things to do

We've never been abroad with the children and they're getting a bit bored if Cornwall now 👎🏻

Any suggestions gratefully received Smile

PrimalLass · 03/05/2018 10:34

Are you sure? The forecast is 16 degrees today.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 25/09/2019 14:26

Resurrecting this thread as it's so informative!

Has anyone been to Majorca mid-May? Is the weather warm then? Google says it is, but I'd like to get hear from people who've actually been there at that time.

Also, has anyone been to Illetas? And if so would you recommend? It's for a short adult-only break.

honeyrider · 12/10/2019 17:09

Loving this thread, now I want to go to Mallorca, I spent 3 nights in Palma after getting off a cruise in April of last year. My husband loved it and wants to go back. Now I'm wondering should we stay in Palma or go to another area, decisions, decisions.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 12/10/2019 20:09

I've booked a 5 night break in May in a gorgeous adult-only hotel in Cala d'Or. Looking forward to it SO MUCH! And hoping the weather will be good, not expecting intense heat but pleasantly warm would be fab!

TheDogsMother · 24/10/2019 16:53

@LifeInAHamsterWheel Mid May in Mallorca is lovely. Warm weather, everywhere is beautifully green and without huge numbers of tourists. Love it
