thermal underwear
timetable of what's on when - parades, character appearances etc from the DLP website

gscrym · 14/01/2007 18:16

If you haven't already, buy your tickets before you go. We saved about 30 quid on what Disney were charging. It was a site called unpackaged attractions and they shouls be able to courier the tickets to you. We saw the queues for tickets and they were long. Get the fast pass tickets from the machines on site, should save you some time queueing.

The parade starts at 4.30 if I remember right, we were there in December.

Well blossam, you stand freezing arses off in a queue for peterpan for 45 mins then 5 from the front DD says I need the toilet (in a whiney but urgent tone). You explain to attendant and on returning to push back in at front they look at you blank and don't let you in.

No seriously, if you do need and are near the front tell the staff clearly and say you will return in a minute, find nearest drain and get child to pee quick, run back and they normally let you back in at the front, big rides you sometimes cross over car and go out exit, then come back in exit to get back in again.

If you are not near front work way back out but be very loud and say sorry needs toilete so all can hear , then don't be a woose push back to same spot, the other nationalities would anyway.

Skribble · 15/01/2007 00:31

Buffalo bill show is good, book early to get the first show as 2nd show is late for little ones. It was the best food we had the whole time, well it was hot and in front of me, instead of being cold and still not there . free refils and great show.

take hat gloves and stuff we went in april one year and it was snowing. be prepared to be assertive, it seems the locals don't queue to get autographs they just push your kids out of the way.the shows are fab. enjoy

zephyrcat · 16/01/2007 10:12

Seriously? People are that pushy?? Hmmm there may well be a ruckus in Disney if they push my kids!!

Soapbox · 16/01/2007 10:22

I agree - queuing appears not to be the stong point of our continental neighbours

Just shout 'attention' in a french accent at them or 'arrette'! And it helps a little

Depending on how old your children are, when you arrive at the park in the morning - go all the way to the back of the park first - perhaps the back of frontier land or right over on the right to future land (or whatever it's called). People tend to bunch up in the middle bit early on, so you can avoid some of the queues that way.

There is a soft play area in the space planet restaurant and they do okayish pizzas there at lunch time.

Don't ever get the steam train thing from the first station - walk to the station at toon town or frontier land and pick it up there!

Watch out for the shows at the stage just below cinderella's palace - sometimes they are quite fun - and if you get there early you can sit on one of the benches to watch, gaining a well earned seat for a while

The waffles sold at the handcarts are not too ruinously expensive and are a really good afternoon snack

Book a character dining experience if yours are young enough to enjoy meeting mickey and minnie - it is worth it, if bloody expensive!

Alternatively if you are in the Disneyland hotel bar at around 4pm ish (check with teh concierge what time they will be there) then you can have the characters all to yourself for a good 15mins or so

Hi, these are great tips, we've just booked for a 4 night stay in March.

Where can you hire pushchairs and how much are they? It is easy to get around with one? We'll have a 1yo in tow and will need one most of the time.

MamaG · 18/01/2007 14:38

I went in Dec and second all the comments so far.

we took our own pushchair - all flat, very easy to get around and handy to run over people's feet when they push your children.

when on rides with littles, pushchairs are all left outside, no problem.

Lion King show excellent.

blossomhill · 18/01/2007 16:53

So excited. Any more tips please

Someooone on the other thread mentioned that if you turn your back on your hired pushchair someone will be off with it!

BH did you get the lo's any skiwear?? That was another tip on the other thread so I got some for dd and ds lol

zephyrcat · 18/01/2007 21:36

Do you have to book/pay extra for lion king & other shows?

fees · 18/01/2007 22:29

wow have a fab time!! been twice first with step son age 3 then 10 years later with our 4 and 6 year old boys they loved the buffalo Bill show and it really is the only time they got to eat some proper food. Buzz lightyear restaurant a god send on a rainy day we used it on both trips and the boys loved it (can't believe it was on of the best things the boys loved about disney but all three agreed) dh very amused at the idea of a pizza burger!!!! Get fast passes wherever you can if you go to the studios avoid the armageddon experience my two were screaming tears at the end of it and i felt a bit traumatised myself still can't quite believe the fire that comes straight out towards you is a special effect it felt so real. Apparently there is a good motorbike show at the studios. we did get a lot of autographs there. (if yrs are in to that buy a book and pen before you get there and have it ready). fab icecream place near its a smallworld. Tarzan show excellent. have fun!!
