Hawaii? Africa? Bahamas? All really hot places!! Can you be a bit more specific? Do you mean in Europe or a certain amount of flying time etc

belgo · 09/01/2007 12:23

We've just booked up Tunisia with our two dds for end march. Also south Marocco and the Canary islands should be a good temperature.

ClosetSlob · 09/01/2007 12:24

Well am taking my 4yo so probably don't want to go too far a field and only going for a week (or so). I like nice hotels so 4*+ and a hotel right on the beach as I end up in the room relatively early so it's nice to have a balcony with a sea view to sit out on

Tunisia, I quite fancy actually.. looked at that last year but DP didn't fancy it. What about Egypt? Morrocco could be nice, might look there. It's end of March/beg April that I'm looking at

Cyprus? Very friendly to children. I've never been but my next door neighbours live there 10 months of the year and are always asking us to go. They have been known to swim in the sea at Christmas and they're not that mad!

ClosetSlob · 09/01/2007 12:29

We went to Cyprus year before last, admittedly went to Limassol, but it has put me off a bit although I hear Paphos is nice...

Villamoura Harbour is nice in Portugal. The hotel Villamoura I think is either 4 or 5 star. It backs onto the harbour and It's on the beach, there's huge gardens and a couple of nice pools with lots of room around.

Also can recommend the Gloria Palace hotel in Gran Canaria. It has it's own spa with loads of different treatment pools and is also right on the beach. It's also got kids pool, infinity pool and normal pool. Think you can go all-inclusive. Really nice kids club there with good entertainment for them at night time too.

ClosetSlob · 09/01/2007 12:30

Gloria Palace sounds nice! off to search.

Egypt - Sharm El Sheikh is lovely. Very nice for children. Lovely sea front hotels. There is a coral reef a mile out that you can walk too as the sea is so shallow. Can recommend the Radisson (has an underground spa grotto) and Laguna Beach (all inclusive) Word of Warning: In my experience the pools in Egypt are F-F-F-FREEZING!!!! They never warm up so far to cold to take kids in IMHO.

wildwomanofborneo · 09/01/2007 12:33

Let us know what you think of it!!!!!

geekgrrl · 09/01/2007 12:34

we've just come back from Tenerife - the weather was fab - 24C most days.

Have also holidayed on the other Canary islands in winter / early spring and always had fantastic weather. The Canaries are a lot warmer and sunnier than north Africa.

cardy · 09/01/2007 12:34

Cyprus? it's nice for a family holiday but a little bit 'British' for me.

Egypt will be hot. As will Dubai.

Not sure Portugal will be very hot in April. I went in May/June last year and the weather was a bit unpredictable.

wildwomanofborneo · 09/01/2007 12:36

We must have just hit a good year then, I'm pretty sure it was April time when we went but it's two years ago now.

cardy · 09/01/2007 12:38

I think it's just unpredicatable due to being on the atlantic coast. For guarenteed sun I think you would have to go a bit further afield in April.

ScoobyDooooo · 09/01/2007 12:38

geekgrrl - What are the beaches like in the canaries? i have always thought the beaches were not nice & where have you been? we were looking at canaries but not to sure...

wildwomanofborneo · 09/01/2007 12:39

Yup, I'm sure you're right. Now you mention it I do remember the sea being virtually baltic!

cardy · 09/01/2007 12:41

Fuetaventura (sp?) has nice beaches and the beach in Playa Blanca (Lanzarote) is nice. Both are quite nice familt resorts.

WWB - I didn't even brave the sea in June!

CountessDracula · 09/01/2007 12:46

Tobago is lovely I went once at easter it was great

ClosetSlob · 09/01/2007 13:23

Would Majorca be hot? there seem to be some quite good deals there..

OP posts:
geekgrrl · 09/01/2007 13:25

scooby - have been to fuerteventura which has huge, beautiful beaches but not much else - went at Easter and it was HOT!

Have also been to Gran Canaria - stayed in the north of the island but went down to Maspalomas for the beach life - again, fab huge beaches and lovely warm weather.

Been to Lanzarote in January (Playa Blanca) - v. nice man-made sandy beach, weather was nice (21-24C), lots of other things to see on the island, v. nice little family-oriented resort - had a lovely holiday.

And have just returned from Tenerife - beaches generally crap I'm afraid, apart from the one in Los Cristianos, which is a very touristy resort and not really my bag - but we went a couple of times anyway because the beaches there were really nice.

ClosetSlob · 09/01/2007 13:27

Geekgrrl would you recommend Feurtevebtura then? did you not find it too windy?

OP posts:
geekgrrl · 09/01/2007 13:42

closetslob, I can't remember - I was 17 and went for the windsurfing and the boys .

I'd recommend Playa Blanca on Lanzarote. There are several v. nice 4+ star hotels there right on the promenade, and you can go for nice walks along it, and eat in restaurants overlooking the sea....aaaah! The beach is nice too. And when the mood takes you you can rent a car and look at some cultural stuff.

cardy · 09/01/2007 13:57

I think Playa Blanca is a nice family resort (I went pre-kids) over new year and it was 21-24 degrees. Not alot else on the island imo but if it's beach, sun, pools you are after it's just the thing.

I also went to Corolaco (sp?) in Fueturaventura pre kids and again good for sun, sand etc... It might have been a bit windy but warm.

ScoobyDooooo · 09/01/2007 14:04

Thanks for all the info have been looking at the canary islands we nearly went to maspolamas a couple of years ago but changed our minds in the end & went to majorca.

Also will have a look at playa blanca...

Where does everyone book there holidays we are trying to get a cheap deal?

onlyjoking9329 · 09/01/2007 14:04
