I fancy Croatia area but flights don't make it easy. I definitely want there to be water (sea or river) but am curious as to mn ideas as I am so often inspired this way!

Croatia for the weekend isn't easy.

Venice for me every time. It's so beautiful and romantic and the food is great and you can get way from tourists.

Berlin was fab if you like history and bars, it's not pretty but it's bloody interesting.

Seville, Valencia, Malaga and Granada, again great food and manageable size so you don't get knackered walking about trying to see everything.

Ma did and Lisbon are on my to do list.

Madrid is my favourite destination - have been with DH about 5 times now.

It's great for wandering aimlessly, finding small bars to drink and eat tapas, walking in the park/s and just sitting and people watching.

i love it. Flights are plentiful from most airports and public transport to nearby towns worth seeing is easy to access too.

Agree that Croatia is wonderful - but not so easy to schedule flights for a weekend.

Copenhagen or Aarhus. They are both absolutely beautiful.

Allalonenow · 13/04/2016 09:05

Vienna, beautiful city, lots to see and do, fab food, great hotels and restaurants.

Costacoffeeplease · 13/04/2016 09:05

Venice, Lisbon, Nice

thenightmanageress · 13/04/2016 09:06

Ljubljana is utterly beautiful but doesn't have the sea, if that's a prerequisite
Trogir just north of Split is lovely if you can't find decent flights to Dubrovnik
Madrid is also a great choice
But I think I would go for Sardinia. Flight isn't long, most beautiful beaches and hotels and some lovely ruins and sites.

Taormina in Sicily. Or Capri near sorrento.

Whisky2014 · 13/04/2016 09:07

Venice

Swallowedbyasnake · 13/04/2016 09:11

Rome, my favourite place in the world

marmiteloversunite · 13/04/2016 10:28

Barcelona or Positano on the Amalfi coast. Had great weekends in both. Beautiful scenery. Positano more relaxing. Barcelona more of a city break.

RaeSkywalker · 13/04/2016 10:59

Rome. Also my favourite place Swallowed Smile

ISeeIt · 13/04/2016 11:07

Bruges! You can drive there and it's gorgeous. Loads to do and some great restaurants. And the 'lake of love' to tuck your water and romance boxes

ISeeIt · 13/04/2016 11:07

Tick*

HolaWeenie · 13/04/2016 11:28

Iceland, would love to go.

willconcern · 13/04/2016 11:42

Isn't Duborvnik possible for a weekend? It's lovely there. You can fly from Gatwick, Stanstead, Bristol, Edinburgh, Luton, and that's just with Easyjet.

Or Rome.

willconcern · 13/04/2016 11:43

*Dubrovnik

Pinkheart5915 · 13/04/2016 11:45

Brugge, it's a fairy tale of a place we loved it.

Ludways · 13/04/2016 12:02

I'd go north, Norway or Sweden, possibly Bergen or Gothenburg.

Thethingswedoforlove · 13/04/2016 14:08

Thanks some fantastic suggestions here. I will go trough them with dh. we plan to go in September. We hope to feel at least a little bit of sunshine warmth on our skin! We have been debating a few of these ideas already...

Flights to Dubrovnik seem to be just in the mornings willconcern which means staying two extra days or cutting it short.

Paris, by train. Nothing romantic about airports.
