Gibraltar - can anyone advise

DH has been offered a short term job out there. Good money and free accommodation but I can't say the destination excites me. Saying that I don't really know much about it. I know it is near some really lovely areas of Spain but that's about it.

Can anyone advise on areas that are nice close by to the city and what it would be likeliving there with two DC is an under three.

Thanks

Only ever visited for a few days but there does seem a lot to do with a nice beach and play areas dotted around.

There's no need to drive 1 it's scary! 2 you can walk and use public transport for the rest. You can cross into Spain quite easily not sure what the nearest towns are like.

To be fair I might only see it from a tourist perspective but I'd love to go back as it's a fascinating place

Envy Envy Envy

There's some nice beaches in Gib itself, and the rock and military history is interesting. Many people live in Spain but commute in every day. Look into underground parking in La Linea and walking/cycling in as the queues to drive in can be horrendous.

Puerto Duquesa is a nice small Marina resort about 20/30 minutes away or there are the more Spanish towns of Manilva, Torreguardiaro or Sabinillas. [[http://manilvalife.com/ Manilva Life]] is useful for Brits living and working in the area.

I don't know a lot about La Linea itself, but I get the impression its not somewhere you would choose to live if you could afford somewhere nicer. I would also avoid Sotogrande unless you want to feel like you are living in the Trueman Show (it's strangely artificial and just a bit weird).

My husband has just applied for a job in Gibraltar and I was just wondering if anyone has recently moved with a family. We have a 5 year old and an eighteen month old. Im all up for the move - think of it as an adventure but can anyone give any advice on if this is a good idea with young ones.

Thanks
