Luxury family holiday

Please may I have your help planning a high-stakes holiday? I am in desperate need of a holiday after a very tough couple of years. My parents have offered to either take us on a lovely holiday or to give us some money for us to go without them. My parents like luxury hotels and I love them too, especially the idea that I won't have to cook or clean up all week! My DH prefers villas because it gives more space and prefers the privacy. To me that's just NOT a holiday! Anyway i need to choose somewhere fabulous that will totally convert DH to hotels AND will be family friendly BUT luxury enough for my parents. Where should we go? I want a lovely sandy beach because I'm so keen to build sand castles and play in the waves with DD, a lovely warm pool to take her swimming in, a playground, family friendly restaurants and opening times. And golf for my dad and DH. In Europe with lovely warm weather. Please help me! Thank you SO much in advance.

hard to beat the Shangri-La in Oman www.shangri-la.com/muscat/barraljissahresort/ especially for kids

TranmereRover · 04/03/2015 20:52

what about a villa with services? Coastline Villas in Corsica - they provide a cleaning service, daily morning deliveries of newspapers, bread and croissants before breakfast, can supply chefs / masseurs / amazing english nannies by the half day or evening babysit. Corsica has the most stunning beaches in Europe & all the villas have pools. Not sure how the golf is.
IF you really want to stick to a hotel, people rave about Elounda Beach in Crete, also the Abama in Tenerife (but that's real 5* / change for your 100 euro a head dinner which is not my idea of fun)
Oh! the Don Pepe in Marbella has all of the above, or La Manga

Thank you SO much. Shangri-La looks amazing and my best friend is there right now! Unfortunately we can't go to the middle East and it has to be Europe.

hotel Elysium in Paphos in Cyprus ticks all your boxes for me.....I went there pre DD but there were loads of families

TranmereRover · 04/03/2015 20:54

absolutely LOVED the shangri la, but no golf and not short haul enough maybe? doubt you'd get that standard of luxury / space / service in europe for the price.

There is lots of golf on the Algarve. A fabulous family based five star hotel with all of the facilities you're looking for i think there is the martineau or martindale or something along those lines.

ScottishDiblet · 04/03/2015 20:59

Can I say that you are all lovely for helping me? I am going to be on the computer looking these all up all night now. Heroes, every one of you. X

Martinhal.
Brilliant, but it can be windy in the main summer months.

have a look on i-escape there's loads of gorgeous hotels and some of them are like groups of little villas, so the best of both worlds.

Roseformeplease · 04/03/2015 21:03

We are going to the Adama Hotel in Marrakech (not Europe, but close) and have a villa, but it is half board (.they also do full board and AI). They have 3 bedrooms villas with kitchen, sitting room etc, so you get the privacy but they serve all your meals / drinks etc. Not going until Oct but looks amazing.

Bowlersarm · 04/03/2015 21:06

Domes of Elounda in Crete is lovely.

MisForMumNotMaid · 04/03/2015 21:07

Forte Village Resort, Sardinia I've never been but this was in a magazine and I loved the idea of the privacy of a famila villa whilst being able to stroll to restaurants and have kids clubs should the DC want them.

Heels99 · 04/03/2015 21:16

I don't think Elysium in Cyprus has a sandy beach? I may be wrong!

Yes i Personally Wouldn't raVe about the Elysium and I think paphos isn't very nice.

Costacoffeeplease · 04/03/2015 21:43

Vila Vita in the algarve?

ScottishDiblet · 05/03/2015 07:36

Ooh Martinhal? Is it five star enough for my parents? And will it be windy in May/June? Or Abama in Tenerife? Or just too fancy and not child friendly enough? What about the Hotel Conrad in Algarve? I like the look of the Forte Village in Sardinia a lot. I wonder if that's a winner!! I am excited! Where will have the nicest weather? I have read about Domes of Elounda but wasn't sure...does anyone have any experience?

Holiday village Rhodes isAI in deluxe section there are private villas with pools?

Heels99 · 06/03/2015 17:20

Would the ops parents consider a first choice holiday village luxury though?

AvonCallingBarksdale · 06/03/2015 18:47

We have friends who are repeat visitors to Forte Village in Sardinia, and they rave about it.

Kantha · 06/03/2015 18:53

Check out Scott Dunn. As well as hotels they do (or did do) villas with staff. Top notch company. I have friends who have worked for them (ski and summer) and would highly recommend them.

thekingfisher · 06/03/2015 19:00

VILA VITA PARC has everything you want in spades (and you parents)

MintChocAddict · 06/03/2015 19:06

Sheraton Algarve. Child friendly and 9 hole course on site.
