link to the 2013 thread here

Starting afresh for the new season! The new pirate playground is not yet built (what have they been doing all winter????) but the park has been pruned and tidied and looked lovely yesterday! Xbox room is still closed as well.

The new Pirate Captain Birdsnest is a bit more of an eyecandy man for us mums than last years young man, so thats an improvement, and the lovely pirate Georgie is back in all her glory, still as charming as ever!

Please add your hints and tips, and there is a few of us LL regulars who come on here and will happily answer all your questions!!

Lastly, there is a new burger joint under construction, so that will be a great improvement (as long as they keep the prices reasonable). The coffeeshop in the harbour still does great latte!

Enjoy!

Many thanks due to all who have contributed to this fantastic thread. We visited Legoland for the first time yesterday, and DH was very impressed with my planning! Tips we used successfully were as follows:

We took our big three-wheeler pushchair and piled it with our picnic/swim stuff etc. Extremely useful, and not at all a pain to push around and park whenever necessary.

Settle down for pirate show at 11.40. We got a great spot, ate lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the show! Highly recommended.

Kids eat free after 4pm. We ate at the rotisserie chicken place in the castle (can't remember the name!) Really good food, very quick service. But beware..a coke costs £2.50...DH almost choked on his chicken over that one!

Pay online to park before hand and park in car park C.

Something to add (apologies if already been done)...If your child has a birthday (it was DSs 8th), go to guest services and inform them, they will give you a badge and put their name up on the birthday board.

Add the fast connect app to your phone, you will then be able to connect to free wifi and if you have a question about the park, google will have any answers you need!

A really good day was had by all of us, the park itself was impressive and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I don't think we would have got as much done as we did had I not researched this thread beforehand...so thanks again xx

Great thread, We are going to LL in September with our son who has hypermobility and asd. He can walk but his legs ache after a while, we haven't had a buggy for him since he was 4 because he says they are for babies. I am worried he wont manage all the walking and I am planning to take a pull along cart to carry our bags and then he can sit in it when he gets tired, will this be allowed ? Thanks

clearsommespace · 07/08/2014 21:32

We are considering LL in October. We live abroad so it won't be half term in the UK.
If we go for two days out of school holidays, do you think we'll be ok without a Qbot?

NormHonal · 07/08/2014 21:35

Grinch I'm not sure they will let you in with one of those carts, it's worth phoning ahead.

The buggies they rent on site really don't look like buggies, so perhaps he would let you do that?

Sympathies, we struggle with hypermobility and 5yo has probably only managed one trip to Legoland without a buggy.

Passamaquoddy · 07/08/2014 21:46

Grinch I saw somebody pulling along a cart yesterday so you should have no problems with that. The double buggies you can hire are really well designed and very roomy with lots of storage pockets etc so it would also be worth considering one of those. ??

Passamaquoddy · 07/08/2014 21:48

Clear we didn't hire a Qbot and the longest we waited was 30 mins. In the summer hols I didn't think that was too bad so I reckon you would be fine in oct.

clearsommespace · 07/08/2014 22:03

I've just skimmed the whole thread and wonder if 2 days will be too much. DCs are 9 and 11. I get the impression that most rides are for younger kids. One day with Qbots is going to be the same price as 2 days without. 2 days will probably be more relaxing, we might find time to sit and build! Is the Imagination Factory well stocked?

GrinchAnInch · 08/08/2014 11:01

Thanks NormHonal and Passamaquoddy, My ds is 8 would that not be too big for the pushchairs ? I have searched the LL site but can't find any info on weight limits for them. He weighs about 28 kg probably about average for a boy his age.

Passamaquoddy · 08/08/2014 12:50

The pushchairs are huge...but not too bulky. They are a really good design - low, wide and spacious. Think 'little tikes' type plastic, 3 wheeler. My 8 yo. Would definitely fit in one but he is a little smaller than average but I saw plenty of bigger kids sitting in them during the dayGrin

GrinchAnInch · 08/08/2014 13:35

Thank you, we will definitely consider them then as they sound a better option than the cart.

Passamaquoddy · 08/08/2014 14:22

Clear, if your dc like rides then they will definitely enjoy the log flume/rapids/dragon roller coaster/pirate ship etc. you should find plenty to do over 2 days and if the weather is warm they will no doubt love the duplo splash towers - despite being that bit older, it is really good fun. The 4d cinema is also highly recommended and yes there are plenty of building opportunities Grin

Hi, we're visiting legoland for the first time this week, 13th and 14th Aug, and this thread has been fab in helping me to plan our visit. We're keeping it a surprise for our son, and not telling him till the morning we leave. He's five and every time he sees an advert for legoland on the tv asks if he can go! He'll be beside himself. One bit of advice I need is about photo packages? We'd love to get some mementos from the day and wondered what kind of prices they are. Also, we're staying at the comfort inn heathrow, anyone got any feedback from there? Trip advisor reviews weren't too bad...Tia. X

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 10/08/2014 09:52

I think you can get four pics for £25 - better than individual ones, which are about a tenner each.

HRHQueenMe · 10/08/2014 11:12

Im not sure about exactly where the comfort inn is, but there are some massive retailparks in Hayes so no problems finding provisions. You are also near Southhall for some authentic curry if you are adventurous.
Again avoid the motorway exit 6 for windsor, get off jct 5 and go through Datchet/Old Windsor/ windsor/ ascot follow the alternative route signs. Much more to look at and no standstill traffic! Enjoy!

Brill advice, thank you. Great about photos too. I'm so excited. Getting qbots for first day as I take, from this thread, that it will probably be heaving. Have prepared my OH for this to avoid too many 'blue air' moments! Thanks again. X

I personally wouldn't think that would be safe, on some of the rides.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 10/08/2014 18:35

I tried to send DS1 aged nearly 7 with DS2 nearly 5 last summer on Dino Safari, and it was a no-go.

They are strict with ages too - as the guy who queued with a five year old for Driving School (age 6 and over) found out when the attendant asked her age. He had a right tantrum when she said she was 5!

DraggingDownDownDown · 10/08/2014 19:00

Grinch - my son has ASD and we get exit passes si we don't have to queue.

Purplelelly · 10/08/2014 20:49

Hello!
I have booked a trip to Legoland in October for myself, my hubby and four kids (10,9,7 and 13months) we are having two days in the park and three nights in the legoland hotel. This is a first time visit for all of us!

As we are traveling my train from Devon I am looking to keep the stuff we have to carry to a minimum, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips/info about the plastic cups that you pay for then can have unlimited refills. Are they worth while? Would they be valid for both days we are in the park. Are they decent quality (don't mind getting them one each if it's going to be a take home souvenir) . I assume it's fizzy drinks only. Anywhere to get deals or vouchers for them? I tried to book them online via a deal, but they showed as up available for my dates.

Also any tips or info about the hotel!

Thanks??

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 10/08/2014 21:02

Drinks are £7.50 per cup, per day. Most places fill with fizzy, but there are some that do water/Oasis. We bought hem this summer as it was boiling hot, and must have refilled them over a dozen times each day. Drinks are very expensive, so we reckoned it worked out Ok - especially as DH and I shared them with the kids. If the DSs didn't fight over everything, I would have bought one only and made them share.

Igggi · 10/08/2014 23:20

Although the refills are per day, would anyone notice? I was never asked to show. Receipt on the one day we had one, so could probably use it twice!

Purplelelly · 11/08/2014 06:14

This is what I wondered, a lady on another site said they never check, I was wondering if that is common, or she is just lucky! She said she has some she has used several times!

Can anyone explain the pop badges to me? I understand they are to collect and some offer freebies? How do we get them some threads saying only in kuds meals (which we don't plan to buy) and some saying just ask staff for them.
